Leeds resigned to losing Thomas
Leeds resigned to losing Thomas

The prognosis looks grim as far as Jerome Thomas at Leeds is concerned as Neil Warnock confirmed the player returned to West Bromwich early and other clubs are "sniffing around him".

Having already conceded defeat in signing one West Brom player, Chris Wood who joined Leicester with Warnock claiming we were unable to compete with the Foxes financially, could Jerome Thomas be another one that got away?

The winger initially made a big impact arriving in November on an emergency loan deal, however his time with us tailed off due to injury and he missed our last two matches with a virus being blamed for his no-show during the win over Bolton.

Warnock claimed that a permanent deal could be in the offing, but his admission that we aren't the only club interested is bound to set alarm bells ringing amongst fans who appear to be told that "patience" is the key word as the transfer-window reopens.

Unfortunately for new owners GFH Capital, the notoriously difficult January market is being viewed as a statement of intent by many as to their plans for the future at Elland Road. Missing out on Thomas would be seen as a big blow.
