The Forgotten Men In From (To) The Cold?

The LDV Vans Trophy has not yet reached it's glamorous stage but the Swans have been instilled as tournament favourites - mainly because of their league position at the top of the pile of all the teams in the tournament.

Could it be a trip to Cardiff next April for Kenny Jackett's men - another step in a remarkable turnaround from near obscurity less than 3 years ago.

But that aside, there are still obstacles to overcome and the first of those will be the visit of Rushden and Diamonds tomorrow evening. With stands North and South being closed, it's hard to predict exactly what kind of crowd will be in attendance for what will probably be the most low key fixture of the season

And with pretty much a reserve team at least starting the game for the Swans, the most action promises to be in the boardroom following the comments made by our chairman about Rushden in the summer. After the breakdown of the Andy Burgess transfer where the basics are he just couldn't be arsed to turn up when he said he would, Mr Jenkins had this to say regarding their club "Andy has asked for a transfer and stated his desire to play at a higher level, But Rushden's Supporters' Trust have more or less taken over the club and we've had no feedback whatsoever from them. "It's no wonder some clubs struggle financially if this is how they are run."

Rumours that the club have sold tickets for the prawn sandwich fight are as yet unproven although it is believed that they have secured 100% attendance from the Premier Club to watch the seats. It is also believed that Mr Jenkins doctor has solved the three month mystery of the stabbing pains in his eyes with the discovery of voodoo dolls in both Rushden and Rochdale.

However with Jenkins backed by the 'heavyweights' that are Messrs Morgan and Dineen (The Sumo Twins!) then it should prove to be no worries for a victory both on and off the pitch.

It's hard to know where to place the LDV Vans Trophy in order of priority at this stage of the season. Saturday's game at Tranmere is far more important as far as I am concerned but a couple of wins and its easy to start dreaming of the Millennium Stadium and a Sunday afternoon in April. I think we got it pretty much spot on at Torquay in Round One - lets hope it works again and with the likes of Roberto Martinez and Andy Robinson in the middle then it should do.

And so there we have it, a tam preview by our standards with no stereo typing for anyone to have a moan about - naturally we are saving all that up for a preview of the weekend trip to Tranmere!

Enjoy the game, Cardiff here we come?
