![]() Tuesday, 3rd Mar 2009 08:16 Darren Pratley says he was as shocked as anyone to be involved on Saturday against Charlton The Swansea City midfielder was a late substitute in the 1-1 draw well ahead of his predicted return date from his shoulder injury. Pratley had been out of action for just a month compared to an initial diagnosis of two to three times longer meaning his place was a welcome sight for Swans fans who have highlighted his absence as one of the key injuries this season. And although his shoulder is not quite 100% right, Pratley continues to do the work to ensure he can play a part in the play off push. Speaking to the Evening Post, Pratley said "You could say it was a bit of a surprise "I had only been in one training session with the boys on Friday and then the gaffer told me I was going to be involved against Charlton. "It's a lot earlier than everyone expected, but it's good to be back. "All the surgeons told me it was usually a rugby problem "They also said that most rugby players have got a lump on their shoulders because of this kind of injury and that they play with it. "Being a footballer, I'm a bit softer, but the good thing is that the shoulder isn't giving me any pain now. "It's not 100 per cent strong and I'm going to be having double sessions in the gym between now and the end of the season. "I've got to work on strengthening the injury and on my fitness after a few weeks out — I even had to go to the gym straight after the game against Charlton. "We all know it's not going to be easy "But saying that, we believe we can get there if we carry on playing the way we have this season."
