![]() Wednesday, 3rd Mar 2010 23:20 Dont Be Mistaken, Dont Be Misled, Theyre Not Scousers Theyre From Birkenhead ! Saints visit Prenton Park on Saturday looking to gain revenge for their trip in 2001. Saints supporters will be housed in the 2,500 capacity "Cowshed" a modern stand with decent views, as is three sides of the ground, all rebuilt in the 1990's. Getting There From M6/M56 join the M53 and exit at Junction 4 and take the B5151 Mount Road from the fourth exit of the roundabout (the ground is signposted from here). After two and a half miles when Mount Road becomes Storeton Road, turn right into Prenton Road West and the ground will be visible on the right hand side. Car parking in the street is permitted in certain areas but make sure you read the signs, otherwise park in the car park at the ground, early arrivals may be able to get a space in the pub car park opposite. By Train Most will go into Liverpool Lime Street and then you can get the underground system across to the Wirrall, Birkenhead Central or Rock Ferry are roughly the same difference in distance and about a 15-20 minute walk, if there are a few of you probably worth getting off at Birkenhead and sharing a cap which shouldnt be more than a fiver. If you get to Liverpool early why not take the Ferry across the Mersey, its the scenic route but worth the experience. Pubs Etc Right behind the away end is The Prenton Park Hotel, the usual away pub or next to the main stand is the Mersey Clipper, with Pompey live on TV for the lunchtime kick off get in one of these early and join Jasper Carrott in supporting the Brummies. An important point to remember is that Birkenhead is one of those places where its illegal to drink alcohol in the street, so dont walk along swigging from a can or bottle as you will get pulled from the police. If your spending time in Liverpool itself a visit to the Beatle Quarter is a must as its not as touristy as you would expect and has a number of great pubs, not all Beatle themed, if your time is limited visit the Head Of Steam that has an entrance in the corner of Lime Street Station. Acohol is available in the ground Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
