Miserable night for Leeds' internationals
Saturday, 7th Sep 2013 05:02

It was a forgettable Friday for the handful of Leeds players on international duty.

Ross McCormack's joy at getting a call-up to the Scotland squad was short lived, McCormack playing just four minutes in another defeat for Gordon Strachan's team. Goals from Defour and Mirallas gave the Belgians a 2-0 win in Glasgow to leave Scotland rooted to the foot of Group A with Belgium topping the table.

Elsewhere, Paul Green was an unused sub in Dublin as Eire crashed 2-1 at home to Sweden, leaving their qualification hopes in tatters and heaping more pressure on Giovanni Trapattoni. One time whites' favourite Robbie Keane put the Irish in front before Elmander and Svensson eased the Swedes into second place.

Reports from Panama this morning suggest Rodolph Austin was red-carded in Jamaica's 0-0 draw in the Reggae Reggae Boyz World Cup qualifier to cap off a miserable evening for the whites' international's.
