Bournemouth Preview: Can Cherries pick off sorry Leeds?
Monday, 30th Sep 2013 20:51

Bournemouth will have to buck the trend of history as they have never beaten us before, but give our wretched form of late will Eddie Howes men fancy their chances?

With the early season optimism all but evaporated, can Bournemouth inflict an unthinkable third successive home defeat on the whites? They have something of an injury crisis on the south coast with Charlie Daniels, Matt Ritchie, Harry Arter, Wes Fogden, Joe Partington, Josh McQuoid and Wes Thomas all out.

Richard Hughes is suspended following his red card in Saturday's home defeat to Blackburn, Eddie Howes team are still above us in tenth but a goal difference of minus 8 may tell a tale where their weaknesses lie. However only Yeovil have scored less than us so I doubt if it will be a free-scoring thriller.

Brian McDermott has Tom Lees back after injury and will have to decide whether or not to recall the steadying influence of the academy graduate, maybe at the expense of one-time Bournemouth man Jason Pearce. Will he recall El Hadji Diouf? Sam Byram even? Will Alex Mowatt, the only bright spark from Saturday's miserable result at Millwall retain his place?

Whilst McDermott appealed for the fans not to turn on him or the players, I'm expecting a poor turn-out for this one, probably as low as 17000. Hardly attractive opposition and at the time of writing, failure to bring in any loan signings will mean the fans will vote with their feet sending out a message to the club.

But I think we will record a much needed narrow win, I'm going for 2-1 to ease some of the gathering storm clouds over LS11.
