Old boys network? Wednesday, 29th Jul 2026 15:04 by Mark M Two former Leeds favourites are in the news today with one being linked with a shock-move back to Elland Road. It wouldn't be the first time Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a move back to where he made his name before leaving four-years ago for Manchester City. Footballing wise it has been a disaster for him and I thought they'd got him on the cheap side at £40m, but back then he was one of the first names on the England team sheet as well as us. In total he's made just 16 appearances for City in the league and when he popped up down the road at Huddersfield, last September in the Carabou Cup it was his first stint in a City shirt for 645 days. In between that he'd had forgettable loan-spells at West Ham and Ipswich Town. Last season he finished the campaign on loan at Sheff Utd and I think he only played three-times for them and got booked twice! A nightmare enough even to wipe the infectious smile off his face, but the bed news is if you yearn for him in a white-shirt again it looks like he is heading back on-loan to Bramall Lane again. Having been left out of Enzo Maresca's pre-season plans, the 30-year-old is expected to link up with our old friend Chris Wilder again and of course Patrick Bamford. And Manor Soloman is another former favourite apparently not part of a new-managers plans, this time Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham. Okay De Zerbi relatively new to the job but when he took over Soloman was out on loan at Fiorentina. He initially began last season on-loan at Villareal before linking up with Fiorentina and Jack Harrison Harrison has since left Leeds for, New, England Patriots and the West Ham page Claret and Hugh think that we are keen to take him back even though West Ham are linked with him as they attempt to get out of the Championship at the first time of asking. I seriously think the, London Stadium is more-than-liikely where he's heading over us. Don't get me wrong, during 24/25 he was like a "cheat code" for us with something like 22 goal involvements as we won the Championship title with 100 points. Like we were at the time, West Ham are looking at life after Cryscencio Summerville who they sold for an astonishing £68m and if they could pick him up for around £10m ish he'd be a good signing. I was surprised we didn't make him permanent last summer but I seem to remember Popey (Adam Pope, BBC Radio Leeds) saying Leeds still had doubts over his injury record to make him permanent. Although we kept him fit during 24/25 he has had some horrendous injuries during his career and we signed Noah Okafor instead and what a transfer that turned out to be. But doesn't it highlight how far we have come now we are able to dismiss returns for the likes of both Soloman and Kalvin?
