Leeds have lost Gus Poyet to Spurs.

The whites' appearred to have been resigned to losing their highly rated number 2 to Tottenham, following a statement on leedsunited.com.

Leeds confirmed that they had given permission to Spurs to speak to Poyet, who played at White Hart Lane towards the end of his career. The statement also said that a confidential, compensation package had been agreed.

Within an hour, Spurs confirmed that Poyet was joining them.

It is expected that Poyet will become Juande Ramos' right-hand man. There were rumours doing the rounds on Friday that Poyet was going to become his interpreter! - as the former Seville coach does not speak any English.

Leeds fans will be bitterly disappointed to see Gus leave after the amazing progress the club have made this season.

Dennis Wise will surely be thinking about who will succeed Gus. Poyet stayed away from the victory over Millwall at the weekend, injured veteran Alan Thompson took his place in the dug-out, however Thommo told Sky Sports News that it was really too soon for him to think about taking such a high-profile role and likely that Dennis would go for an experienced man.

The first name that springs to mind is Ray Wilkins, who worked with Dennis at Millwall - but obviously has those unspeakable connections with C***sea, Manchester U****d and from a personal perspective R*****s!!!
