Kandol confusion but Christie departs

Malcolm Christie leaves ER but there is some confusion over Tresor Kandol's future.

Malcolm Christie has left Leeds United, but he was not shown the door despite reports to the contrary.

In a statement released through the official Leeds United website (www.leedsunited.com), Christie talks of him making the decision to move on last week after consultations with his family.

Christie also somewhat mysteriously says he felt his circumstances had changed due to the recent change of management at the club.

Ironically Christie's only goal in the five appearances he made for Leeds came under Simon Grayson's stewardship, in the 3-1 win at Stockport.

However oin the revolving door that is the last few days of the transfer window, could the giant figure of Tres Kandol be heading back to Elland Road?

It appears that if this is the case, it is a strategic move on Leeds' part to prevent the Congolese striker adding to his eight-goal tally at one of United's main promotion rivals.

According to reports in South London, Millwall were keen to extend Kandol's loan-spell but Leeds told them either pay-up in full for the Barnet man or forget it, Millwall have baulked at the idea so Tres is akin to being in limbo.

It has been widely predicted that Kandol does not feature in Simon Grayson's immediate thoughts, so I would not bet against a sensible conclusion being reached for Kandol to play his football elsewhere beyond next Monday teatime.

I doubt Christie will be missed either. Lee Trundle has proven to be an excellent loan-signing so far, with Beckford almost back to full-fitness and Luciano Becchio's inspired form, we can afford to shed some numbers up front and dare I say it, get rid of some of the deadwood in other areas of the squad.

I personally would not be too sorry to see the back of Richardson, Prutton, Lucas, Michaelik and Telfer whilst we are at it.
