Shee Whiz! Al does a Sweeney!

Sheehan the latest player on his way.

Alan Sheehan is the latest casualty of the Somon Grayson revolution.

The Irish defender has joined Crewe on a loan deal that will keep him there until the end of the season.

He follows hot on the heels of winger Peter Sweeney, who left for Grimsby Town last week.

And fans will be wondering as the transfer-deadline draws to a close, will David Prutton be the next one out the door?

Like Sheehan and Sweeney, Prutton has hardly had a sniff of opportunity since Simon Grayson took charge at Christmas and recently Grayson made some comment about those out of the picture should shape-up and shape-out because after all they are "paid to play football".

In Sheehan's case, the former Republic of Ireland international initally arrived in January 2008 on a loan deal from Leicester, which became a permanent move last summer.

However he has hardly set the world alight at Leeds and has made just three appearances under Grayson. Indeed if you look at back his career down the years, in July 2007 he very nearly joined Lincoln City after spending time on loan there.

Overall I think this is a good move by Grayson, if we are going to progress either this season or next then he needs to clear out quite a bit of deadwood that has gathered due to a quick succession of manager's in the last few years.
