Leeds United 2 v 1 Preston North End EFL Championship Saturday, 12th April 2025 Kick-off 12:30 | ![]() |
![]() Saturday, 12th Apr 2025 23:06 Forgotten man Darko Gyabi managed to upset Sheffield United boss and March manager of the month Chris Wilder despite barely breaking sweat in Plymouth's epic 2-1 win over the Blunts on Saturday. Gyabi who was originally with Millwall, another side who've beaten the Bramall Lane outfit of late joined Leeds in the summer of 2022 but has found game time in a white shirt hard to come by so went on loan to Argyle, then managed by Wayne Rooney in the summer. He didn't get his chance until the 90th minute on Saturday lunchtime and by then, Plymouth overturned a 1-0 deficit to lead 2-1, Ryan Hardie and Mohammed Tijani with the goals that turned the game on its head and ensured Leeds have a five point cushion over Sheffield with just four games remaining. But if that wasn't bad enough for Wilder, the sight of Gyabi celebrating with Mustafa Bundu, the man he replaced as they left the field in front of the travelling Sheffield fans was clearly too much for Wilder and a scuffle broke out in the tunnel between the Blades boss and the Argyle pair. It remains to be seen if Wilder's tantrum will be in referee Oliver Langfords report and if it is, he might ve looking at a touchline ban. I suppose it's reassuring that Wilder leapt to defend the honour of the fans, who reportedly left Bramall Lsne at 03:45 to make the long haul to the south west for the benefit of Sky TV subscribers. One week ago, he was critical of the same fans after they were humbled at Oxford. The beginning of their three defeats inside a week. Outside of Bramall Lane Wilder is one of the most despised managers in football and makes Neil Warnock, one of his predecessors look angelic by comparison. After the Blades clinched automatic promotion at the expense of Marcelo Bielsas Leeds in 2019 Wilder blamed "alcohol and high emotion" for referring to Patrick Bamford and Adam Forshaw as "muppets from Leeds". And earlier this season he'd no doubt trot out the same excuse for him being filmed in a pub singing about Danny Rohl aka sausage roll and a derogatory song about his *Sheffield Wednesday team. *apparently both teams in Sheffield like to call each other "pigs" - sad but true. No doubt Wilder will point out that out final two away games are at Oxford and Plymouth, two grounds they've come unstuck on this past week. Then there's the two point deduction they were hit with for non payment of transfer fees I believe. Sheffield host relegation haunted Cardiff on Good Friday and despite their horrendous week, I can't see them slipping up against them. Oxford will be a tricky one for us but if we win there then the Blades need to win at Burnley on Easter Monday and hope we lose at home to Stoke on the same day to give them any hope pf catching us! That would leave them just two points off us and the Turf snore mob and them hoping for us both to drop points in our last two matches. Bring it on! Bring it on.
