Planning for next season 19:24 - Apr 27 with 5106 viewsStudiousDale

Using Lama's squad list from the start of the season, I've had a look to see who we have contracted for next year. I'm unsure of the status of January signings like Lynch, so if anyone could advise that'd be great. Personally, I'd keep all of those under contract, and prioritize deals for Lillis, Rafferty, Bennett, Hery, Allen, Done plus try and secure O'Connell on loan again. That'd give us a core squad of 15 (I think!?) so we could be looking at quite a turnover in playing staff to take us up to 23 or so. I can't wait to see who Hilly has lined up!

GK
1. Josh Lillis (Out of contract)
21. Robbie Thomson (Out of contract)

Defence
6. Oliver Lancashire (1 year)
5. Ashley Eastham (1 year)
25. Michael Rose (1 year)
2. Joe Rafferty (Out of contract)
3. Rhys Bennett (Out of contract)
17. Scott Tanser (Out of contract)
27. Darcy O'Conner (Out of contract)
22. Jack O'Connell (End of loan)
33. Sean McGinty (End of loan)

Midfield
12. Matthew Lund (1 year)
40. Ian Henderson (1 year)
7. Peter Vinceti (1 year)
4. Peter Cavanagh (Out of contract)
14. Bastien Hery (Out of contract)
24. Jamie Allen (Out of contract)
26. Joel Logan(Out of contract)
16. Matt Done (Out of contract)
15. George Porter (Out of contract)
20. BBM (Out of contract)
28. Callum Camps (Out of contract)
8. Jason Kennedy (End of loan)

Strikers
39. Joe Bunney (1 year)
9. George Donnelly (Out of contract)
11. Scott Hogan (1 year)
10. Reece Gray (Out of contract)
19. Craig Lynch ??
29. Graham Cummins (End of loan)

Cav
Hery
Allen
Done
BBM (Coach)
Camps

Releasing/Not renewing loans:

McGinty

Possession with progression.

I agree with that list but you have missed Lynch who is one for next season..
I would also keep porter because of his pace..
As usual the wage budget will play a huge part and no doubt Hill will make loan signings to boost the squad.....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

McGinty was brought in specifically with next season in mind. Having only played a few minutes at Bristol we have little to pass judgement on. All assuming Sheff Utd want to get rid.

Jesus saves but Beasley scores off the rebound.

I'll leave the planning up to Keith :-)

Lynch was on a deal to the end of the season like Porter, both were brought in with an eye on next season so presumably they'll get new short term deals

Sheffield United 'got rid' before he came here.

I agree with your list except I have the following -

Steve Collis has also been on a player-coach contract - finishing this summer.

Callum Camps' contract runs until 2016.

Godwin Abadaki is also on contract, finishing this summer.

Craig Lynch is on non-contract terms.

A lot depends on whether Blackburn agree to loan us O'Connell again (which I doubt, given the positive reviews he has garnered).

This would leave an obvious gap at centre half that would need to be filled.

George Elokobi has just been released by Wolves. He can play at left-back as well as centre half and is in the prime of his career.

Oh yeah, and he was probably on in excess of £15k a week at Wolves.

Scrub that.

And so begins the need for Hilly to work his usual magic when it comes to League One recruitment...

Cant wait to start the close season, basking in the after glow of promotion and just relaxing on a beach somewhere (Turkey next Saturday actually).

Whilst we are recharging our batteries and enjoying summer barbecues and cricket matches Hilly will be doing his best to recruit the right players and get the squad up and running for the start of the new season.

I don't think managers get any proper time away from the game these days but if Hilly has any sense he will get away somewhere sunny with his family for a fortnight and turn off his mobile.

With Dale going up Blackburn might fancy O'Connell playing league one next
Season

Poll: Remain in the eu

That's a decent point. Unless they're planning to draft him into their first XI a season in L1 would do Jacko the world of good - and us!

Similar situation to when West Brom loaned our Craig back to us due to playing at a higher level

What about Kevin Long ?

If we lose O'Connell (back to Blackburn) we could make a cheeky move for Long. Surely Burnley will be looking to recruit from outside now they've hit the dizzy heights of Premier League football.

If Long wasn't playing in the Championship, I can't see him getting his chance next season with Burnley.

How about

Thompson
Cav
Donnelly
Gray
Abadeki as the released

Loanees sent back

Swhan Jalal (GK) - out of contract
Gabriel Zakuani (CB) - out of contract
Keith southern (CDM/CM) - out of contract
Nathaniel Jarvis (ST) - out of contract

Wouldn't mind a look at Mathieu Manset as a strong target man which we without doubt lack at the moment in the team, apparently at Antwerp in Belgium second division. Marvin Morgan is also another option who is at Plymouth.

Elokobi has signed for Oldham. Either he's taken a massive pay cut or they're offering Champaign on a beer budget.

Apparently they've managed to sign him due to the Playershare scheme, who previously contributed to the wages of Kuqi.
