Safety does not look assured to me 16:59 - Mar 23 with 23294 viewsJacandme

There seems a concerning sigh of relief has been breathed around the club, but looking at the table I am not as convinced as everybody seems to be. I hope we are not relaxing too soon.

Newcastle and Sunderland have a game in hand over us. they win it and they are 7/8pts behind with 7 to play.

we have Leicester away, West Ham away, Man City home, Liverpool home, Chelsea home, Stoke away and Newcastle away.

we will be underdogs for every single one of those games.

Someone convince me I should be as relaxed as others...

Uh I doubt very much that you know what the players are thinking- publicly they'll obviously say we need more points, but privately they may think differently.

I'm glad it won't make a difference to your life, that would be sad. it's only a game at the end of the day and you don't know.

I do and that clearly bugs you for some reason

And your logic is flawed if the players said publically they were safe I would be worried as that would suggest complacency

And I still know

Exactly and that's why no player would come out and say such a thing - they'd be accused of complacency- privately they may think differently and I can guarantee you don't know what the players think privately. It certainly doesn't bug me as I've said its only a game.

Our average points per game of 1.16 can be quartered for the remaining games and we'll be safe - that's why I'm relaxed. Do the maths for the teams in 18th and 19th. Their current average points per game needs to at least double to overtake us. Both of them achieving that is unrealistic - combine that eventuality with palace and Norwich going on a similar run as well....not going to happen. Chill out and enjoy the rest of the season 👍🏻

About 6 weeks back I had us down to be relegated with Sunderland and Newcastle.
We picked up points against Watford and Arsenal which were unexpected.
I can't see us winning another game with the exception of Newcastle.
If we only pick up 3 points that will do.
But we picked up a surprise 6 points so I guess from the remaining games we will get another 6 points.
The recent results and new management looks like they will get us there.
We can wish for as much as we want but if we do the same next season I will be relieved but we will push more more.
As for strengthening, the wba holding midfielder has had a good season but they look safe even after losing to Norwich.

An interesting spin off to the possibility of Norwich going on a run is that it may actually benefit the Swans because they may well have beaten Newcastle, CPalace, Sunderland and Watford as these are Norwich's next 4 opponents.

Yes, but what if Norwich, Palace , Sunderland and Newcastle all get three points each when they play each other, eh? Eh?

What?

Down with the Villa, we're going down with the Villa.

Or something.

I don't think anybody WANTS to worry, and I truly hope nobody at the club is planning on having a relaxing end to the season as that is the exact attitude that will cost us.

I just cannot understand how anybody can say with any sense of certainly that Palace cannot gain 3 points on us, Norwich cannot gain 9 points on us and Sunderland cannot gain potentially 8 points on us with 7 games to go in one of our hardest run ins we have ever had. That is a total that can be gained in 3 games. Especially at this time of the season. Ask Leicester.

I don't think that We're the underdogs when we play Newcastle. No way.
Crystal Palace.... Now they should be worried.

It's just the internet, init.

Whilst not 100% guaranteed, there is very little chance of us being relegated. Mathematically we could, the same as Stoke could mathematically win the title — in reality, neither will happen.

I think we'll get points against Liverpool or Chelsea or Man City or Leicester or Stoke or maybe against Newcastle (who are absolute dogshit and will be virtually gone by then). I think we'll probably lose at West Ham...or maybe not.

Newcastle have 8 points from the last 10 games, Sunderland 11. We have 17. But of course that will just reverse and three teams will come surging up the table, despite all of them being utter shit.

I'd be surprised if Newcastle get 30 or Sunderland get 33 or Norwich get 35....and are you seriously asking why a 33-1 on bet isn't comparable to a 33-1 against bet in the context of the actual practicality of making the bet?

Why are you so determindly and stupidly against all odds so pessimistic? If it happened it would probably be the biggest anomaly ever in the premier league.

Leicester at 5000/1 to win the league now 8/13 may have something to say about that.

By the way I think we will finish on 40 points and safe.

People quote Leicester as if it somehow means Sunderland, Newcastle and Norwich will turn into Bayern Munich and we will lose every game.

People win the lottery. We still aren't got down.

Their games in hand are against Man City and Everton. We are more likely to beat Chelsea or Leicester as they are to win those. They have won 6 games each ALL season. Now they need 4 out of 8.

Plus, they are both shit.

Games in hand are worth f*ck all.
