On paper, £10m for a 31 (almost 32) year old player is a good deal, but he is (was!) captain of his club and his country, over the years he has been a colossus for Swansea City and a really effective leader and he is going to take some replacing. Having regard to what he means to the club and the hole he leaves, I don't think £10m is enough. The board now have to move quickly to replace him otherwise there is a risk that the more talented players who are left will feel the club is not matching their ambitions and they will also agitated for a move, a trickle of departures could become a flood!
We are 2 weeks from the start of the new season and 4 from the end of the transfer window, there's a lot of work to be done if we want to have a competitive squad that will be able to hold its own in the Premier League.
