Good for them on a personal level, but the game in Wales is going to be very much poorer for their departure. I get the rationale behind the 25 cap rule, keeping the best players in Wales should strengthen the “regions” make them more competing, get the crowds coming back through the turnstiles etc etc etc, but it hasn’t and the rugby is almost in a terminal decline. I watch a lot of club rugby, but very little regional rugby. I may watch the Ospreys once in a blue moon, but that’s it. Once they’ve been wound up I’m done with the WRU and Regional rugby. |

It’s being reported that the hero who took the gun off the offender is a 43 year old man called Ahmed al Ahmed, which I suspect means he’s of Arabic ancestry and likely to be a Muslim. I think this how to show there’s good and bad in all cultures and creeds. |

👍 I’ve re-read the article and there is definetly mention of 12 months to reply, but as you say this incident only happened 6 months ago so it can’t be that case. Just like some of the right leaning papers twist stories for their own ends it looks like the raving left leaning Morning Star has done the same. In terms of being on remand, prisoners who are being held on remand generally have more privileges than those who’ve been found guilty. They can have more visits, wear their own clothes, make phone calls and have better access to books and other materials. |

A lot of the procedures that hav3 been cancelled were scheduled to take place in private hospitals. |

I appreciate that remand can be extended and I’m in favour of keeping this lot in for longer, but 18 months in my opinion is excessive. The prosecution should be told to pull out all the stops and get this case ready for trial in say 9 months. It’s a damning indictment of our criminal justice system that this case has to wait 18 months before it can be heard. It’s likely that the closure of half the Courts in the U.K. by the previous government is factor in the delay, but imho the current government should be making efforts to identify temporary Courts etc to get justice moving again. |

I’ve no time for Corbyn or his ilk, I’m also of the view that the offenders should be held on remand BUT there are a couple of points in the article which need to be considered and looked at. It appears that the trial is going to take place in January 2027 which will mean the suspects will spend 18 months on remand, that’s about 3 times longer than the limit for an indictable offence - I think that’s poor tbh and every effort should be made to speed things up. Being on remand for that length of time is in my opinion unacceptable. Expedite the case and if their found guilty bang them up for a long long time, but Another major issue the article highlights is the fact that ministers have taking up to 12 months to reply to MPs raising the case. That’s bang out of order. We can’t have a situation where ministers and the civil service are ignoring MPs, we’re a democratic society where the rule of law should be sacrosanct and impartially discharged. Nobody should be above the law and government officials shouldn’t be exempt from answering questions or scrutiny in relation to cases. If ministers can do it here they can do it anywhere. It’s not justice the offenders, the victims shouldn’t have to wait 18 months to 2 years for justice. |

I read (on another forum) that if Wales qualified, their first game would be against the hosts Canada at the BMO Stadium in Toronto. The ground has a capacity of 28,000 which is being increased to 45,000 with the addition of temporary seating. There are only going to be a very very small number Category 4 tickets available, the next cheapest tickets are the Category 3 tickets which are going to be $715 US or £532 at today’s rate. I’ve followed Wales a long time and thought we could have a holiday in the US/ Canada if we qualified, but for me, wifey and the 2 kids d be looking at £2k in tickets for this one game! Mental. The whole thing is obscene. I hope the fans vote with their feet. |

The concept behind the Bill is sound. The Bill is intended to deliver what Whiterockin as mentioned in his post. If it’s successful and implemented effectively, it would hand ministers and Transport for Wales the power to franchise bus services across Wales, replacing the deregulated model that has operated since 1986 under the Transport Act. When the buses were deregulated back in 1986, it became a bit of a free for all and there was a lack of integration and joined up services across England and Wales ….. except for London which was not excluded from the provisions of the Act. If we can get buses to run smoothly, connect with trains etc etc it’ll make life a lot easier for a lot of people. Can’t see the logic in having a system where public transport is disconnected and disfunctional. The fly in the ointment is whether the politicians can follow through and implement the legislation effectively. |

It’s extortionate. I took my mum shopping earlier and she bought a book of second class stamps, was around £7. I had no idea first class stamps were so expensive. A mate of mine was a postie until he retired a few months ago, he recommends sending all post second class as there’s only 1 delivery these days and that’s if your lucky. Even though there’s a requirement to deliver first class letters the next day, “management” want the parcels to have priority even that means not doing the letters as they are supposed to. My mate told me as there is not OT available, if you have a heavy round with lots of parcels letters aren’t delivered and their taken back to the depot for the next day, or the next day or the next day. |

If I owned the Ospreys and loved my team, if the WRU offered me the chance to buy a new franchise at the expense of the team I loved I’d tell them to do one! Where does that leave St Helens redevelopment? The whole thing is a mess. |

Whatever one’s thoughts are on her, I think we all have to recognise that Bangladesh is a very corrupt country and there’s the possibility these are politically motivated charges and a politically motivated outcome. Things like this happen in dodgy places, Navalny and Russia, Roman Protasevich in Belarus, Imran Khan in Pakistan and many many others. |

Great effort fair play. At the end of the clip the Spurs keeper looks like he’s having a go at his team mates, he was the cause of that! |

I only saw some of the second half, but we were outplayed, outmuscled and outclassed. Normally, quite a few of the players in representing Wales today wouldn’t be anywhere near a 6 Nations match day squad. I appreciate this game was arranged a while ago and before we plumbed to depths we have now, but the people at the top of the WRU need to take a long look at this debacle and themselves. I mentioned a potential 80 point drubbing in this thread earlier this week, it gives me no pleasure to say I was almost right. A trip to Twickenham on the first weekend of a February is not something we’ll be looking forward to. |

Agreed. A hammering will also damage the value of the “brand” and could even put the players at risk. This game, is in my opinion stupid and unnecessary. I could also harm the finances at some clubs because the clubs had to order and pay for tickets a fair while ago and some clubs have really struggled to sell their allocations. You can buy half price tickets on FB from legitimate sources. [Post edited 27 Nov 22:43]

TBH I’m hoping that’s the case, because if the Saffers put out anything like a first team our reserves will be on the wrong side of a mauling, possibly 80 odd points. That’ll do the game in Wales no good whatsoever. |

Spot on. Despite the big fall in net migration, the number arriving was still 900,000 which is an enormous figure. 109,000 more Brits left than arrived, could that a flight of the rich, brain drain or pensioners bailing out to sunnier climes? Less EU citizens coming here to work, it will be interesting to see the breakdown of who is arriv8ng and from where and the SPLY comparison . |
