Dom Cummings - the great man speaks on 09:32 - May 26 by Sadoldgit | So rather than deal with the fact that the Tory bible has run a negative front page about the senior government adviser three days running, you chose to make it about me? Classic Tory/Trump deflection tactics. Incidentally, I see that there is a move to Boo For Boris at 8pm tonight. Good to see the country behind him. |
'Boo for Boris' You keep crying about Brexit. It's hilarious seeing you all wet the bed so much, so consistently. You're going to be balling your eyes out for another 5 years yet!

We are approaching the last round of talks with the EU before it is decided to extended the transition period or not coincidence?

And yet not a single mention of the word “Brexit” apart from you? Deflection attempt not working Boris. The best thing about this whole sorry episode has been the delicious irony of watching the man responsible for getting this government elected now showing them up to the whole electorate as a bunch of elitist, morally bankrupt, self serving, gutless incompetents. All this clown had to do was to go on TV and beg forgiveness. But no, not a hint of contrition, in fact, he would do the same thing again. So that has gone down like a lead balloon with a country that has, mostly, done the complete opposite and followed the lockdown rules - missing loved ones, not being there to hold the hands of the dying. The best thing that Johnson could do for the Opposition was not sacking Cummings. The best thing that Cummings has done for the Opposition is not resigning. These two clowns will be a daily reminder about what happens if you use your vote unwisely. There is an old adage that you can tell a lot about people by the company they keep. Never a truer word has been spoken in this case.

You don't want to talk about the FOUR Labour MP's that broke lockdown then? Are they a bunch of elitist, morally bankrupt, self serving, gutless incompetents as well?

As I have said previously, this thread is about the “great man” himself. Feel free to start another thread if you desperately need to talk about other people. PS. How many of the other people are chief advisers for the government and ignored their own rules? So back to Cummings. Given that the Tories bayed for the Chief Medical Officer in Scotland to be sacked for breaking the lockdown rules, why are t the same people insisting that Cummings should do the same? (A clue for you Boris, your answer should not include the word “Brexit”).

It’s a very good assessment and his statement is spot on. It is the kind of thing you would expect from a grown up politician. Instead we get fobbed off and treated like an inconvenience. These people are there to serve us, not the other way round.

Any MP from whatever party who has broken lockdown rules should be subject to disciplinary procedures. The Cummings affair goes right to the heart of Govt trying to steer us through a national crisis. Whatever the ins and outs of what he did or didn't do there is absolute no doubt his actions have undermined the public health policy and has led to a huge public and media outpouring that the rules are not being fairly applied. It's also an absolute kick in the teeth to those who have sacrificed and put up with so much these last few weeks. Cummings has to go in order to restore public confidence in the Govts central message. It's obvious and why Johnson can't see that beggars belief. He's an expendable advisor ffs not a member of the Govt. Why is he so important that Boris is desperate for him to continue?

The civil service is now involved. And what they are saying in this statement contradicts a police report. So somebody is lying. The civil service? Or the police? Why does the Cummings story matter? And what does it obscure? The real story is the huge transfer of government assets to private companies that he is overseeing under cover of a pandemic while restructuring the Cabinet Office into his & Michael Gove’s private fiefdom. We have no insight into these contracts which did not go to tender but to Cummings’s friends & associates. Including a massive transfer of our most private, intimate NHS data. The privatisation of essential state functions is happening in real time in almost complete darkness. Cummings made absolutely clear his conditions for working in government were smashing civil service and rebuilding in his image and creating British ‘ARPA’ — an AI-driven research facility. That’s exactly what he’s doing right now in Cabinet Office with Gove his long-time co-conspirator. Sure, the hypocrisy and entitlement of Cummings is breathtaking but there’s a far darker story that it obscures and it’s why the focus must be on Johnson now and his decision to throw weight of his office — statement from No 10 — behind him.”

I thought one of the interesting things in what Cummings said yesterday was that, when explaining why he hadn't discussed his Northern escape with Boris, he said that he doesn't run everything past the PM, sometimes he just has to make his own decisions. Interesting that. The rule is meant to be 'advisers advise and ministers decide' and we all know that he has much more power than your average special adviser but even so, that was a bit of a brazen admission. Are we really happy that this person who is unelected, who refused to be questioned by the select committee and who (it now seems) is above the sort of scrutiny that sees everyone else leave their jobs is making ANY decisions? I say make him stand for the Tory Party at the next by election and let's see how he gets on. Ed Balls used to be Gordon Brown's special adviser but he got himself elected and then his constituents kicked him out. That's how it should work.

Dom Cummings - the great man speaks on 14:48 - May 26 with 773 views | Sadoldgit | It does make you wonder where the power lies in their relationship. Given the situation, why would you not run the plan by your boss first (and if he wasn’t available, Raab). He doesn’t seem to be answerable to anyone but himself and yet no one elected him
Dom Cummings - the great man speaks on 15:07 - May 26 with 771 views | PatfromPoole | Yesterday Cummings. Today Gove. Labour don’t need to do anything. The Tories are scoring huge numbers of own goals each day. This is just brilliant, by the way.....
