Yeah, I know. He’s been loyal though and found a home with us. Good footballer and under appreciated at times.

I have always liked Routs, skilful, clever, player. Held his own every step of the way.

Hs had his moments agreed, but I'm not sure he gave the club full value.

As he got older he was naturally going to become less effective in the PL. But after the step down a division, he's done well for us again. He also took the pay cut last season so that he could get on the pitch and contribute, when he could've easily sat back and earned more money. And he played out of position in the last few months of that season

Hell of an opinion that. In terms of value, I’d put him third behind Leon and Rangel in the modern era. Edit - Ashley Williams runs him close. [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 6:51]

This - no issue at all with the value he’s given us, as much off the pitch in latter years & fully deserves/warrants our appreciation - not an ‘all time great’ to me & wouldn’t get in a best Swans 11 but always welcome at the club for me.

That's not necessarily true, if they could have earned £20m elsewhere. And let's not forget, Routs took a big pay cut so he could play for us this season after being released last summer.

Spot on. During those few years when we were at our absolute best, he may never have been our best player but he was always the one I enjoyed watching the most. [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 11:15]

Dyer was only £400k. He's above Routs in the VFM stakes too. As per usual little Nath gets overlooked.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Nath has been wonderful too, it doesn’t have to be one or the other. IMO, taking both at their peak Nath was the better winger, Routs was the better footballer. Routs rightly got stick over his finishing but he got so many chances and saw so much of the ball because he has a proper football brain. [Post edited 24 Jun 2020 8:36]

AGREE I have always l;liked him, and a few years ago I thought his form was superb, and even thought there was a international; call; up on its way, then he faded for for a while, but seems sensible and looks a good one for the youngsters too look up too
It’ll be a sad day... on 08:58 - Jun 24 with 6062 views | JesusJack | If Wayne had done more - more goals and/or assists - he would have been snapped up long before now and we wouldn't be having this discussion. He is the perfect type of player that a club like us should be looking for. One transfer fee (plus wages) for 9 years of service reduces the need to go out and spend bigger transfer fees (and wages) for journeymen and flops. Judging by the comments from some of our players, they all seem to look up to him as well so that's something else he also brings to the team. Legend.
