Midlake's 'The Trials of Van Occupanther' I know there's a few of us on here love this album but it's criminally unknown. Here's the opening track as posting youtube links to full albums doesn't work for me.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
Massively under-rated band from the 80s. I see the NME took the same view a few years back. Interstingly, videos on youtube that used to have a few hundred views now have thousands so maybe they have been belatedly appreciated.

I was a fan in my pre house days. I could never understand why they weren't bigger but looking back, they had a terrible, unmemorable name, a nothing image and Adrian Borland was quite introspective and not suited for the PR and promotion game. I didn't know he committed suicide in 1999, that wasn't a nice thing to learn.
Rainbow's Down to Earth was an excellent album and spawned two of the best Rock songs of all time in Since You've Been Gone and All Night Long. But the album has some really great tracks like Lost in Hollywood and Makin Love. Graham Bonnet didn't hang around long in Rainbow and he may have looked a little out of place but he was a really really great if not underrated singer for this band.

Grandadday's 'The Sophtware Slump' is a thing of beauty.
Great album Brian. Seen them at Reading or was it the V festival? twenty odd years ago . They looked they'd escaped from hillbilly convention in Texas. Great show as well or at least I think they did as I was ver.ver..very drunk at the time!
