Got to admire the bloke that grappled with the scum that was shooting people in Australia today.
I often wonder if I'd have the guts to do something like that. I't be spur of the moment of course.

Just watched the clip fair play to him plus he had enough sense to put the gun down once the shooter had moved away a safe distance. The police showing up in a frenzy could gun him down him by mistake .
The guy throwing rocks at the shooter ( not sure if its our hero ) put himself in grave danger with another active shooter on the bridge .
As for the OPs question if your family was in that danger I am 1000% certain each and every one of us would rush the shooter but for strangers in that situation not sure.Tip my cap to him and a second younger man that rushed in to help

Disappointing he didn't put a bullet in him though.

I quite like the way the maggot was petrified and scurried off. Now he knows how the innocent people he was targeting felt. Sometimes I feel guilty for bringing three young kids into this world.

Even braver since once he was holding the gun himself, he could have been mistaken for one of the shooters and shot/killed himself by the police.

Selfless bravery at its best.

Absolute bravery and was shot twice himself

But for me him being Arabic or at least of Arabic descent is amazing as well. With the hostility that the Middle East provides between Isreal and the Arabic countries... for him to defend Jewish families is truly wonderful

He is a true hero

I disagree, fella.

Save if it's totally necessary, you have to try and keep these people alive to find out what, why, and who radicalised them; how they were armed and even funded, and msybe, if they know when the next one is planned. Gathering such intel may well provide insights into networks etc. that if infiltrated, could foil future plots and save many more lives.

The bloke who apprehended the (better say alleged) shooter, bravery above and beyond. I read a book a while about a 'have a go hero' whose life changed and not for the best. Hope that doesn't happen here.

It's difficult to find superlatives enough to praise him. On a bleak day, it restores some belief.
Recently we had the man on the train at Peterborough, he was wounded too. Going back, the man on London Bridge and don't forget the Millwall fan that confronted that maniac in Borough market.

Unfortunately it looks like he got another gun and carried on shooting afterwards.

Weird. The guy is a genuine hero and risked his life, but didn't want to murder (also got shot I think). He seems to be just an ordinary guy and you're still critical. WOW!

What are you talking about? I haven't criticised him, merely said it would have been better if he'd shot the scumbag.

So do you think you'd have tackled that guy... with a gun? Then go and shoot him? Serious question

I have Jewish friends in Melbourne who are too terrified to leave their house. One of those killed was a holocaust survivor. Just think about that, survives the horrors of WW2 only to be gunned down on a beach. Terrible

I just read, it was a father and son pairing who went on the rampage! Given how unhinged the world is, it never ceases to amaze me how these things are facilitated by easy access to guns.

Thankfully, I wasn't in that situation. He is a very brave man.

Australia clamped down hard on gun ownership after the last massacre years ago,so questions will have to be asked about how they managed to get at least 3 assault rifles.
As for the hero shooting the man,I think he did well to not shoot/kill him.I couldn’t imagine being in the same situation and executing someone like that. One second’s action could ruin his life forever.

Terrible events yesterday.

Footage was on twitter long before the media got it, disturbing scenes and incredible bravery from this guy to do what he did, especially as the other gunman was still firing.
