Let’s hear your favourite guitar solos. Electric guitar, acoustic, bass, steel, mandolin, banjo, lute, bouzouki, sitar.
My first offering features legendary session guitarist Larry Carlton playing with the Crusaders. The solo is early in the song after a minute and a half.

What's the beef with Brian May? Saw Pete Haycock many times with the Climax Blues Band.
Jon Herington perfectly copying Ernie Isley on That Lady with Boz Scaggs playing an impressive rhythm.
RE: Brian May, like most "Greatest ever" lists I think people confuse popular with talent. I've never really liked Queen, but thats OK. I realise I'm in the minority here!
I just remembered this beauty from Jon Herrington;
Not really a guitar solo, more solo guitar, but wonderfully played...

I could choose from a plethora of Dream Theater's, but one that sticks out is John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess matching each other note for note during In The Name of God

An absolutely epic solo by the great Allan Holdsworth in here:
Seven minutes long but four blistering solos in this hard edged prog gem:
A short but clever solo in here. A song I loved as a scruffy youth:
Great riff, great solo on this grooving hard rocker. The first guitar solo I ever learned to play, ha
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Pretty sure the big band Latin jazz genre hasn’t featured yet, so here’s Gerald Wilson with a few friends from the 1962 Moment of Truth LP. It’s Viva Tirado and the guitarist is Joe Pass. His solo kicks in at 3.24. It’s nothing flashy but it just sits so well with the groovy big band sound after the trumpet and saxophone solos.

For Joe Pass, this is pretty unbeatable.
Virtuoso indeed. For some reason that’s got me thinking about two other great jazz guitarists: Django Reinhardt and Pat Martino.
Django, who was badly burned in a fire, achieved an extraordinary level of accomplishment despite effectively having the use of only two fingers on his left hand.
Pat was a jazz guitarist who nearly died after a brain haemorrhage. Following surgery (part of his brain had to be removed) he had no recollection or knowledge of his career or even how to play the guitar. This all had to be re-learned.
