2 points dropped today against a very poor effortless Burnley side.

In the 1st 20mins we were in such control against a side that gave us so much space to play in.

In the last couple of home games Derby and Swansea we have played lots of pretty one touch football around the box which has paid off, but tonight none of it come off.

Kone, Saito, Kamara, Vale and Kone looked well off the pace tonight.

Gifted an equalising goal from some poor keeping.

I will keep an open mind Obikwu but that miss was poor and after tonight and Charlton away he does not look up to the standard.

I have seen us lose games like this in the past, we didn’t so that is the positive to take away.

Edwards again MOM

Come on you R’s

Varane did many forward passes but somehow nobody on this forum sees them...

He played deep so not always in his remit to do killer passes, but he got a goal and could have had an assist too, it was his pass that put Obikwu through on goal,

Yes, pleased to see our CDM / Centre Midfield in that space on the edge of the box demanding the pass, we need to see so much more of that from our Midfielders as we need them to score & assist on a regular basis, because.....

Regardless of whatever the stats might say (and I hav'nt checked) although I've missed alot of games this season, but this team lacks an out & out Centre Forward be it a target man the 10's play-off or a quick in behind Vardy type,

It was so noticeable last night we worked the ball into good positions but did'nt put the ball in the ball, we cut-back & try to pass our way through low block set defences, which is very difficult,

Burrells pace & press / Kolli's hold-up play / Lloyds energy / Kone's occasional eye for a goal, all 4 of those in 1 player and you have a £15m top level Championship forward you need to get promoted, unfortunately its this teams weakest link as each of them probably has 1 of the 4 attributes needed.

Against Lincoln if JCS is not avaliable move Morrison in and move Ronnie forward.

Thought we played well enough to win it, and I have classified it as 2 points missed, which there have been at least 3 others already (Bolton, Charlton, PNE - maybe even West Ham if not for injuries).. so thats now 8 points from those type of games lost, which would put us top of the league, if we'd have managed to turn two of those draws into wins, we'd be in 5th. So very fine margins, and still a long way to go, win a few on the spin and get a hot streak going at the right time and suddently you are right back in it. So dissapointing, but still an upgrade on many previous season.

Two points very much dropped, but last year we probably lose that

Were really missing Madsen last night, just for that killer little pass. I don't know whether Burnley maybe actually defended well, but we couldn't quite create that proper clear cut chance. A lot of fans demanding players shoot when they were surrounded.

Disappointing effort from some of them. I dislike singling players out but early in the game there was a ball put over the top for Vale, who didn't even try to chase it. The ball died on impact and trickled along. Maybe he wouldn't have gotten there, but man, you have to buy a ticket right.

Still, it looks like a really weak league and we've still got the sauce I reckon. The issues from last night are fixable, but mostly through sports science which hasn't been our friend

What's going on I agree with nearly everything Gazza said

Vale has talent but clearly needs to work harder when you look at the effort of some of the others; especially off the ball he tends to be too static. I doubt he'll be starting once Chair is fully fit.

It was a good early shot they scored from, maybe Charles wasn't quite set for it but I think he'll be disappointed he didn't do better.

Re strikers good ones cost money - the key thing for us is getting Burrell fit again. The same old injuries yarn, but if our best players are fit then you'd like to think we'll win more.

With you on this - and Gazza to a large degree.
Vale continues to disappoint me - there's a player there, but he won't assert himself on the game and has no conviction in the passing of the ball.

We have lost three matches but are only three points above Norwich who have lost EIGHT (no draws).

No draws is kinda wild.

Whereas we have six draws from fourteen games.

Vale has had back trouble throughout his career, and that’s how looked last night. Very slow on the turn and reluctant to sprint.

Ah.

QPR are only allowed to sign chronically injured players.

To be fair that does include a run in against Middlesbrough (1st), Birmingham (2nd), Swansea (4th), West Brom (5th), Southampton (6th), and West Ham (8th).

The thing is I expect all six of those teams to finish above us. Then there is the unwritten rule that Norwich and Sheffield Utd always have to finish above us so that leaves us outside the top 8. We don't help ourselves having played all of the bottom 3 at home and only won once which is same old Rangers. A squad of crocks will not get us promoted no matter what our potential is.

..and we have lost only 2 of those matches in a very tricky run, draws really skew the figures and help a narrative.

Surprised at the negativity, although a frustrating result it was a reasonable performance, backed up by stats which I noticed were referenced post-match by JS. 57% possession, 1.73 v 0.16 XG, 20 v 4 shots and 45 touches in the Burnley box.

Charles hardly had a shot to save, although should have done better with the goal.

On another day we win comfortably, nothing to be too down about.

Very frustrating performance, one that offensively we've already seen 4 times too many this season, but concerningly the first of those that I felt like we lost control over and never managed to regain it.

Going to be quite contradictory here re Stephan as for the first 30mins he had set us up for a comfortable 4-0 win had we rewarded ourselves for our early dominance, that's purely on the players. However his refusal to change the system again once the players looked like they lost faith/couldn't execute it is just as much of a worry as the missed chances, and that's on him.

We started well and the players were probably taken back by how easy it was to get to Burnley's final third with both their own good Football and Burnley constantly giving it away. I think we saw confidence, complacency and panic in that order; Smyth, Saito and Vale suddenly believing they are world beaters and trying to do everything themselves, Kamara playing like he's down the park with his mates and toying with the opposition rather than just punishing them, and then once we hadn't scored and the crowd were becoming frustrated, suddenly everything was rushed and snatched at and that's when we started to lose control of the game.

Was pretty obvious what was going to happen from that point and Burnley got their goal from another poor Edwards clearance, and barring Edwards' own deflected shot I felt resigned to us not scoring and it just being one of those games.

I think Stephan needed to send a message and change our whole front four at HT who were dreadful. Kone's recent Goals have just about papered over the cracks and I'm getting so fed up with him lumbering around with his trampoline touch and just generally being a hindrance to how Stephan wants to play. Smyth, Saito and Vale were almost trying too hard but never looked like delivering an end product. Lo and behold no changes and we never got going until he finally made some on 60 minutes, but somehow still persisted with Smyth and Vale. Smyth was so ineffective against that low block, can't play with his back to goal and was clearly knackered so wasn't doing his pressing job as the last man, which let them bring the ball out with ease and left Kolli stuck not being able to do anything because Smyth was the trigger. A mess.

My other gripe tactically was having Saito and then Chair still play so narrow all game, trying to create overloads in an already congested area just didn't work enough. Burnley were quite happy to let us play down our left side as Cirkin had no options and had to keep coming backwards, it was asking a bit too much of Kamara to consistently support and occupy that vacated area when he was already looking leggy. We needed width to stretch the low block and combinations to move Burnley around but coupled with Adamson being redundant in attack we had no threat either side. Stephan could still point out we had enough chances to win it with Chair and Obikwu but those finishes summed them and the night up.

That's 2 games in a row Stephan hasn't helped his players by not tweaking his original gameplan and I hope he's not too stubborn to continue with that front 2 and Vale against Lincoln. Kone and Vale are playing themselves out the team and Smyth's pace is better used out wide rather than centrally against sides that play with a low block. Things weren't working last night and it got desperate when a few tweaks could have given us a new focus and impetus to go and win the game.

Need an almost perfect display against Lincoln to make sure we don't go into the break on a sour note.

Interesting how everyone sees the game differently. For my part I thought we were very good in midfield in the first half in midfield but failed to find an attacking outlet. Some things I would disagree with what had been said are that I thought Adamson played well; contrary to what some have said I saw him as being very attacking minded. In the first half I always saw him up at their end of the pitch. Both FBs were pushing up, and the CMs being more defensive and tucking in behind, but Adamson seemed much more adventurous than Cirkin. In particular Varane played a lot of ambitious crossfield balls, and Adamson took a couple of those down beautifully. Unfortunately he couldn't quite fashion that possession in their third into quality balls into the box for our forwards. I think Smyth was ineffectual in that position for this game, in contrast to the Swansea game. I thought Vale was very good in the first half and looked one of the likeliest to make something happen through the middle; we were pretty ineffectual when we tried to get the ball in from wide areas. The defence was overall solid, bar Edwards' mistake in the clearing header that led to their goal and Dunne's careless in possession a couple times in the first half.

Saito showed a couple flashes of what he can do taking players on, but as a member of the team was quite disappointing. Kolli's first involvement showed great promise and I thought he'd set up Chair for a Gimme but he didn't do anything subsequently.

Chair showed his old self, both good and bad. Bad in his tendency to utterly predictably cut inside and shoot, missing the target and disappointing set pieces, but also his ability to drift past players and make something happen through the middle; something we'll need to break down teams that sit back.

Yes I just watched the full 90 and having read comments on here, I was surprised we were pretty decent for much of that. Varane played many good forward passes as you say including the big chance for Obikwu, and a lot of good defensive work. My MoM and probably his best game for us to date. Vale supplied many good and dangerous passes too. Edwards was very good again except his poor defensive header for their goal. What we missed most was finish. Smyth crosses right across the goal and no R's player looked within 15 yards of it. Kone wasn't in the penalt area as much as seemed to be out wide. Kolli set up Chair's chance, but not too much else. Just maybe Obikwu could be useful if we can keep him fit.

A lot of Chair's touches last night were fairly rough, but he's been out for ages, and you gotta get those minutes into him somehow. Confident he'll sharpen up

Other than the fact that he is not a Championship standard defender. For the life of me I don’t know why he was not loaned out/sold during the summer.
