Jander was in the car park immediately after the final whistle having his photo taken with fans. Don't think it's a serious injury... if it's an injury at all that is.
Been sorting out stuff at home and came across a few bits of Saints memorabilia that I kept from long ago. Brings back happy memories, that's for sure!
We won't be going up automatically unless we improve our away results. Despite a terrific win away last weekend, that is where we are dropping points.
West Ham, Swansea, Middlesboro & then Wolves are the top 4 best away teams in the league on current form (in that order). We're 13th on away form alone with W2 D2 L2.
Home form is superb of course - we're top of the current form league table on that note.
Just need to improve our away form if we're seriously aiming for the auto spots. I'm sure statistic junkie Tonda Eckert is well aware of that himself.
Ehibhatiomhan had his 21st birthday last week, so his career is at the stage where he should be making Tonda ask questions pretty soon. The Championship is a tough, tough league of course. But it would be great to see him make the bench/come on late in the game against 'lesser' opposition - as it were. I'm sure Lallana & Tonda speak frequently. I read a quote from Tonda over the weekend saying that we deliberately went with a smaller squad this season in order that some of the fringe players should step up when needed... and one or two gems from the academy hopefully, like Ehibhatiomhan.
It's great to see a player like Stephens and indeed JWP care so much for the club. Can't fault their passion for the club - much like us fans. You're Saints until you die really - thanks to your dad or grandad taking you along for the first time when you were a little kid and then getting hooked for life - much like my dad did with me. I took my little lad (who is now aged 39 himself) but was only 3 when I took him to his first ever game, Saints away at Stamford Bridge in 1991.
Enjoy your bottle of wine. Just as a footnote ; I saw Jack Stephens on Thursday this week with his little lad at Peppa Pig World.
Over the moon with that result - absolutely chuffed to bits.
Some great performances today and a very hard fought but deserved win against the best team in the division... and on their own patch.
Terrific 1st half in which we did the damage. What a goal by Bree! Peretz some outstanding saves. A few Bacardi & Coke's later tonight with the added bonus of the clocks going back.
Don't you just love weekends when Saints win thanks to another Tonda masterclass.
Here's hoping that today is the day that Dobbin comes good for us. His goalscoring record is shite apart from a loan spell at PNE last season, so we're probably gonna need Azaz or Scienza to find a goal from somewhere to help out. But Lewis Dobbin ; make a name for yourself today son.
You have to consider the fact that we were docked 4 points. Had we not been, we would only be 4 points behind top of the table Boro tonight, so it's not all that bad. I'd be very happy with a point away at West Ham tomorrow if I'm honest - especially as it looks as though we'll be without a couple of key players.
That Lankshear is something else at this level btw. Another 2 goals tonight. Pretty sure he'll be the division's top scorer this season... unless Dobbin comes good ;-)
I thought the same last weekend when Boro dropped 2 points at home to Cardiff in the early kick-off.
We did exactly the same later in the day by failing to beat Bolton.
What a signing Will Lankshear has turned out to be for Boro. Up front is where Saints's season will be defined this time around. Goals win games as they say - and we seem to be struggling in that department lately... and January is still a long way off.
I got conned by half-a-dozen Senegalese wristband sellers over the course of 3 days there. They were big football fans to be fair and kept asking me over & over why we let Sadio Mane go to Liverpool - like it was my decison!
If you think that's bad - I watched the game on a stream!
To be honest, the 1st half was utter dross - terrible game by both sides. The 2nd half wasn't much better. Thought Wolves had won it - only for the inbreds to score late on, 1-1.
Today I have repented by standing naked in my bathroom all morning and repeatedly lashing my back with razor-sharp leersia reeds from the Middle East which have cut me open no end, blood everywhere, lots of it.
Small world. I used to live in Farncombe as well (Tudor Circle) - albeit a long time ago.
My first school was in Farncombe. Me and my older brother used to go to Saturday morning pictures in Godalming while mum n dad went supermarket shopping.
My dad was a submariner for 29-years and he transferred to the Austrailian navy for 3-years as he was a sonar expert so we all went to live on the outskirts of Sydney for those 3 years. I was only 5 at the time. My grandad became ill back home in England (he lived in Willow Road, Farncombe), so we upped sticks and moved back to England. The old bugger ended up living for another 16-years thankfully.
My mum had seperated from my dad a several months earlier and she was seeing some flash tw@t who ran a pub in Swanwick and was living with him above the pub. I'd only just got back from 6-months at sea when he phoned and said did I want to go. Truth be known the ticket was originally earmarked for one of his mates who couldn't go last minute. I met him at the pub as he'd blagged a couple of tickets for the game from contacts at Saints. He had a flash Datsun 280ZX and thought he was the dogs' bollocks. I had to put up with the bullsh1tting tosspot all the way to Brighton & back.
I do recall the game being 1-0 which was a good result but as you say, an otherwise forgetful game.
So, grim journey there, grim journey back, pretty grim game - but good result.
