I was only thinking the other day that you don’t see players asked questions like you used to see in ‘Shoot’ magazine ie favourite food, player, what car do you drive etc etc. They’re just a bit of fun but a good way of avoiding the dull cliches that players spew up as a result of media training.
If he can stay injury free I think he can have a big second half of the season. He’s clearly a technically very good player. Is the central 10 his best position in a 4-2-3-1?
I’m sad to say I’ve never got round to seeing ‘This happy breed’. If it’s anywhere near as good as another of my top 10 films ‘In which we serve’ (another Noël Coward/David Lean film) then I’ve definitely missed out. British WW2 films are a favourite of mine ‘Went the day well’ is another cracker and who doesn’t love ‘Colonel Blimp’?
Not to get too philosophical but it’s possible that this forum, in a microscopic way, reflects the state of wider society, the economy, politics etc; more divided, angrier, frustrated, unhappy with their lot. I think it’s also why some people make a good living out of rage baiting - the market is there as people are more than keen to vent their bile. It contributes to the levels of anger and unhappiness. Of course, rather than responding to rage baiting they should just ignore it. It’s not rocket science.
I thought Bennie did really well initially, won three headers which all went to team mates, retained the ball well and brought others into play. He drifted out of the game for most of the second half but no one was playing well at that stage. An encouraging first start of the season. To say he isn’t up to the standard after one showing, in those difficult conditions, is a bit hasty.
I can confirm I am not Matt Winton although I can also confirm that, like him, I’m rather sick and tired of the constant negativity, bleating, group think and occasional derangement syndrome that affects some on here which is why I have been posting a lot less lately.
