Should we recall Celar, Field, or Lloyd?
at 16:27 27 Feb 2026

When I consider our budget and think back to some of deals we've been on the wrong end of (e.g. Trevor Sinclair, Peter Crouch, Conor Washington, Taylor Richards, etc.) I'm more than happy for the club to take a hard line approach.

As I said earlier, if we can't recall the successful loans early then we shouldn't be expected to take the unsuccessful ones back. That approach would be financial suicide and mark the club out as a soft touch.

Frankly, anyone who believes otherwise waives their right to complain about the finances and PSR.

Your argument can work both ways. I don't see clubs unduly worrying about their reputation by refusing to send successful loans back.

A loan is a contract and each party has the right to insist it's adhered to. In many ways, I think it's reflects badly on the club trying to wriggle their way out of a loan early just because it hasn't worked out.

Ultimately, I don't think any of this will make a jot of difference to our reputation and clubs will still come looking for loans. It's the nature of the beast and you're over thinking it.

I disagree. It shows that the club has some teeth after all. Besides, if we can't take back the ones who are doing well why should we take back the ones who aren't?

It's football and business, not a charity. For every bad loan like Richards there's a good one like Eze. Clubs will always show an interest, it's down to them to their homework.

And it also helps if you don't sign players who have a track record of injury or are currently injured.

Who was the last owner of QPR who knew anything about footballl
at 13:00 27 Feb 2026

Yep, the very man. The same man who made a tidy profit on his shareholding but later lost High Court proceedings against Swindon Town after he tried to sell his shares to a US-company despite a co-owner having pre-emptive rights.

Fear not. The club has revised it's original prognosis and announced he'll be back in training by Easter.

Pretty much my feelings, too. A work in progress who should've been given a chance to develop in League 1 a la Eze and Chair. To the OP, Joe may have his weaknesses but one thing he certainly doesn't lack is height.

There some truth to that, Mart. In the past, the internet knives would be out. These days there's more of a begrudging acceptance of such results and, in some quarters, excuses made. It's almost as if we've allowed our standards to drop, something that will not go unnoticed by the club.

For me the on-pitch issues (injuries, recruitment, etc.) is endemic of a wider problem; the lack of vision and creativity of our board. It continues to explore out-dated strategies that, even if they were to succeed, won't move the needle much. Applying analytics to an old strategy doesn't make it a fresh idea.

Whether we like or not, modern society has moved on and to succeed you need to embrace it with more creative strategies (such as those deployed by Birmingham and Wrexham). Indeed, the restrictions posed by PSR demands it as, bar a few exceptions such as infrastructure, rich owners can no longer spend personal wealth on their clubs.

I had hoped that one of the few advantages of hiring a young and inexperienced CEO would be that he'd bring fresh ideas to the table. However, that's proven not to be the case. Now that's not a slight on Christian's performance as ultimately he's an employee who takes direction from the board. Both boards (club and message) needs to pull its collective socks up. We need to be less accepting of low standards and the club needs to embrace and come up with modern ideas for modern problems.

I've been flagging this issue for some time now. Dig a little deeper and look at the number of goals conceded inside the first 10 minutes as well as either side of half-time. Southampton's first 3 goals were scored in these periods, effectively putting the game out of QPR's reach. Mentality minions.

Whilst I agree that we need at least 2 full-backs and a solid keeper, signing them won't transform the midfield. We need at least 2 box-to-box midfielders. Folk who can impose themselves on a match and dictate the tempo.

I once tried old school by using my dad's brush with Imperial Leather soap. My face suffered death by a thousand nicks and for an hour was drier than a nun's chuff.

I don't believe you. No one goes straight into a QPR side after signing. They usually go straight to the treatment table.

Another vote for Wilkinson Sword Xtreme 3. Very good disposable razors at a reasonable price, and if you keep an eye out there's usually a deal to be had.

FWIW I shave every other day and 1 razor will last 1-2 months. My preference is gel over foam but only because quite a few foam cans I've bought have given up the ghost. I wouldn't go back to Gillette now. Vastly overrated and overpriced.

Yes he's limited but I have a lot of time for Sam Field. A decent squad player who always answers the call when needed.

Given our current lack of options in central midfield, I hope this was more a case of the player wanting game time than the club bombing him out.
