Lovely to hear DT's on the mend. The man's an institution. |

LOL. Harry converting Gareth Bale from a full back to a winger is like converting your loft by simply adding a bed to the attic. |

Pepe was a Centre Back not a Full Back (as is Sergio Ramos). Their tenacity was necessary to make up for the lack of defensive cover provided by the wing backs. |

Either that or they have a history of full backs for whom the art of defending is not the highest priority. |

Yes, those areas in particular have seen a big improvement. Strength conditioning is helping him hold the ball up under pressure. He also seems to enjoy dropping deep at times to get involved in the build-up play. Still lacking in raw pace mind but, given our dearth of options up front, it'll be interesting to see if Marti thinks Charlie has done enough to merit a go next season. |

Commentator said Charlie sacrificed his summer holiday to work on his conditioning. Now reaping the rewards. He looks fitter and stronger. |

Read a stat somewhere that in Europe's top 5 leagues Trent is ranked 1st for defenders creating chances and assists but ranked second for full backs who get skinned the most defensively. Says it all really. Real Madrid will be a great fit. [Post edited 27 Mar 19:55]

We understand that but this isn't a court of law; mitigation won't buy us extra points. The team is going to have to find a way to get wins on the board with or without its stalwarts. |

You're missing the point. A fit Chair gets into into my team (albeit on the left) but if he's injured then he's not in the discussion. Ned raised the possibility of Marti reverting to a more pragmatic style. With the team in poor form and still not guaranteed Championship safety, it'll be interesting to see if Marti's hand is turned by Chair's absence. |

Well, the training ground is fairly new so we can't attribute it to that. Perhaps it's related to the calibre of player that we're able to recruit on our budget and therefore the market we shop in. Players who on paper appear to possess quality but in reality lack the required mentality to succeed. Just look at Madsen, for example. On paper, he has all the attributes but in reality he flatters to deceive. Or maybe it's a side indictment of the modern footballer, many of whom are too rich and too comfortable too young. That's why so many top managers want to know about a player's character. What is he like in the dressing room? Is he a team player? Does he make himself available? Does he demand high standards of himself and others on a consistent basis? Is he up for a scrap? How does he react to setbacks? All of these questions are equally important as can he play. It could actually turn out to be a blessing in disguise. I like Chair but he's been very ineffective this season and the experiment with him playing as a 10 hasn't really worked. It'll be interesting to see whether Marti persists with the same tactics by just replacing Chair with Dembele or if he decides it's time to go pragmatic once more in order to mathematically secure our Championship status asap. |

Mentality, desire, commitment, confidence, loss of form, niggles, injuries, tactics, formations, personnel, talent, etc. There's any number of reasons why a team can lose or gain form. The truth probably lies in a combination of the above factors but for me mentality is top of the list. This bunch aren't inconsistent in the traditional sense. They go on long losing runs followed by long winning runs followed by long losing runs and so it continues. When they're in the mire they pull their their fingers out. As soon as they get comfortable their fingers go back in. Well, they're going to have pull them out once more if they're to avoid being dragged into a relegation dogfight. [Post edited 12 Mar 13:40]

RangersDave, is it just the meniscus you've torn or have you torn cartilage as well? |

It's really come to something when we're expecting our keeper to score! |

If anyone thinks that Saito's miss was bad they should take a look at Sinclair Armstrong's header at Sheffield United. |

Another limp performance and defeat. This team hit the beach as soon as it reached mid-table. Some players appear to be under the illusion that our Championship status for next season is assured. With Derby and Luton both winning, the gap to the bottom 3 is down to 9 points. This team needs to start picking up points soon (draws even) or it could see itself dragged back into a relegation battle. |
