| News Comment | Famine to feast at league leading Sunderland – Oppo Profile at 23:03:34
Time someone brought them back down to earth……unlikely to be us though. Our recruitment through the summer is looking woeful with each passing week, as one by one piss poor individual performances result in the dreaded hook and bench routine. Celar next up, although I wouldn’t be surprised if he isn’t in the line up tomorrow. If he is and contributes the sum total of zip, he may well take some flak. Another game to be watched from the back of the settee with gritted teeth. Please make it stop. |

Aaaahh, the comfort of nostalgia. Tenuous, but something to hang on to. It’s a dry, clear day up in Burnley today and I will be there with my 3 non Rangers supporting siblings (forced them to wear QPR colours throughout their childhoods….didn’t stick, don’t know why) Think this one might be closer than the league standings suggest, but the presence of a really poor looking Celar concerns me. I would rather see Anderson in there and an attempt made at our forward line playing to their ball playing strengths. Koloeosho is their danger man and must be contained. Fox is not the man to do it. He will have another torrid afternoon if up against him. Hope Marti has done his homework. |
| News Comment | Stuttering QPR’s home woes continue against Hull – Report at 20:58:12
The balance of the team is all out of kilter, especially with Chair and JCS missing and as a consequence we are getting badly exposed at the back. Some of the newbies are settling better than others, but Varane and Santos look well off it at the moment. We need Varane up to speed asap otherwise we only have Field protecting the back 4 in the absence of Colback. We definitely showed signs of our ability at the top end of the pitch against Hull, but we now look frail at the back. Have we got the right type of squad to achieve the balance we need to compete effectively in this league. Time will tell, but not convinced we have. |
| News Comment | Who are you, what are you doing here? – Preview at 09:36:36
Well, at least it’s not pissing down in Lancashire this morning. Small mercies. Can’t promise any better on the pitch, but you never know, this team of strangers have to click at some point. Maybe today is the day and it is that hope that makes you do the things you do. Bonkers. |
| News Comment | Frey’s big start, Madsen’s quiet wins, Field’s conundrum - Perryipheral Thoughts at 11:15:39
Great summary Alex and I’m sure Clive is relieved to have your support and assistance this season. It must be a tough slog doing it on your own, regardless of how invested you are in following this club. Agree totally with your assertions of Madson and Field. Madson gives the impression that the game is passing him by, but he plays with a strange nonchalance that belies the control and composure he clearly possesses. I expect him to become another fan favourite this season. As for Field, already a fan favourite having occasionally held our midfield together single handed. A great guy, great attitude, but….his apparent inability or unwillingness to receive a ball from the keeper and turn with it is starting to grate. I do think however, that he will retain his starting spot, for now, and the liability that is Colback will soon lose his starting spot to Varane. As you say, Cifuentes is more ruthless than perhaps most fans appreciate. No prisoners will taken. Regardless of who you are, you will eventually be replaced if you don’t meet his requirements and expectations. This is how progress is made and he isn’t wasting any time doing what needs to be done. Fair play to him. |
| News Comment | Is Madsen the man to solve QPR's long term CM issue? Signing at 19:40:56
I’m less concerned with the finances and lack of club communications (both of which have been done to death this week…hopefully) and more on how this team is developing. I personally feel really comfortable with our direction of travel and with the business done. Madsen doesn’t look anything special and doesn’t excite in the way Saito and Dembele does, but he could be a vital cog within the team dynamic. What I like about Cifuentes is the way he has given absolutely every player an opportunity to show what they can do before deciding, in a quite ruthless way, that they simply don’t cut the mustard and makes the change. This started with Dozzell and has continued right up to this point. Not all of the new signings will be a success, but Marti is quickly building a team in his image, that can play in a way that he wants and that will excite the fan base. I can’t wait to see how we develop this season and will not lose any sleep over spending a relatively paltry £5 million. Had fingers burnt before, but trust this management team not to screw it up. |
| News Comment | Sheff Utd and Chris Wilder ride again? Oppo profile at 16:53:38
Have to say, not particularly looking forward to the game on Saturday. We are seriously undercooked at the moment and it will be well into September before we start to find our collective feet. Would snap your hand off for a draw 🙏🏻 |
| News Comment | As one door closes, a Celar door opens – Signing at 21:26:22
The lads got some pedigree, can score goals and is at a good age. With some very good players around him and a great management team behind him, he has a fantastic opportunity to excel. Sinclair has an awful lot to prove. Has shown potential but minimal improvement. Risky move by BC. Great bit if business on both counts by the club imo. |
| News Comment | Rovers casting nervous glances after hitting winter wall - Interview at 21:00:51
Blackburn, like us, tank alarmingly when unable to field their best eleven. 4 from their injury list, including Szmodics, returned against Wrexham. Not what we needed going to Ewood on Saturday. The hoodoo is unlikely to be broken this weekend me thinks. |
| News Comment | A win - Report at 12:53:34
I think the euphoria around Armstrong is well OTT. Hope to be proved wrong of course. As long as we keep picking up the points needed, Rivaldo it is. |
| News Comment | A win - Report at 11:12:32
People / supporters often see what they want to see. Unconscious bias I think the term is. I'm struggling to see how Armstrong has turned into Rivaldo all of a sudden. Amazing how a goal and a win can transform opinions. We'll be banging on about a promotion push again if we beat Huddersfield. Thoroughly enjoyed the game and the win, but unless we can find some consistency, the shit will hit the fan soon enough. Hello Blackburn. |
| News Comment | A win - Report at 20:02:10
Up until his goal I thought Armstrong was having a poor game. Can barely control the ball when it comes to him and never wins a header. Yes, he is a handful with his direct running with pace and power, but didn’t see as much of this as the Watford game. Whilst Willock didn’t have a particularly good game, his touch and dribbling ability allows him to retain possession and lay it off. A six for both for me, but that’s just my opinion and I don’t tend to get too hung up on player ratings as a rule. |
| News Comment | Light at the end of the tunnel, or a train coming towards us? – Analysis at 22:35:17
Excellent article. Some science and math behind all the bluster. Appointing Ainsworth has ultimately doomed us. Had Cifuentes been in charge at the start of the season, even with our mediocre squad, we would have had enough to at least survive until the purse strings could finally be loosened. Millwall and Huddersfield really are must wins if we are to stand any chance of survival. It’s now or never chaps. |
| News Comment | Back where we started again – Preview at 19:05:30
Fair enough, no argument left in me now Clive………but just make sure that feckless fooker Dozzell is the first numpty slung out through the door marked “do one” come January 1. |
| News Comment | Very big in Sheboygan – Preview at 22:26:11
Definitely on the side of the fence that thinks Cifuentes has polished this turd of a team up to a glossy sheen. But it is still a turd and capable of producing utter shite. |
| News Comment | Quite the transformation - Preview at 21:34:21
More rotation likely for this one as I suspect Cook will be replaced by Salter. Would like to see the more attack minded and industrious EDB replace Dozzell, but how do you replace Illy or Willy as both have played 90 minutes in the last two games? I applaud Cifuentes efforts to use the squad fully and start with a clean slate, but he must now be getting concerned with the paucity of quality on the bench. Kakay had a shocker on Tuesday and Kelman didn’t impress at all. Will again be interesting to see what the line up is. Do you go with your now recognised and obvious best Xl, or protect the fragile from a potential stint in the treatment room? Ultimately it will be the sports scientist department that will advise on player availability and the manager will have to set up accordingly. Not ideal, but this is where his real coaching and tactical nous will be tested. He really didn’t like what he saw on Tuesday, but 3 of our best players were culpable for some serious sloppy play in those opening minutes. A bit too complacent by far, which needs nipping in the bud for what will be a stern test tomorrow. |
| News Comment | Where did it all go so right? - Interview at 18:23:31
"Vulnerable to balls over the top", there it is, their Achilles heel, we must exploit it to the max because we are good at those!! Still got a pony on Leicester scoring 3 or more. Let the shitshow begin. |
| News Comment | Innnnn one - Report at 12:37:09
Entertaining read as always, but the underlying message of total farce makes it hard to be amused. These are seriously desperate times and God only knows how Ainsworth is going to approach the Leicester game with potentially no centre halves available. Damage limitation is the only viable option as our midfield and strikers are a million miles away from what Leicester can put out and a huge embarrassment may await. Not looking forward to Saturday one bit. More sleepless nights for Gareth this week I'm afraid. |
| News Comment | As good as we've got? Report at 11:31:02
No getting away from that performance, clueless pub team shenanigans all day long. Brilliant report, could laugh and cry in equal measure, just bizarre. Blackburn tomorrow with key players missing. Back to betting on QPR defeats I'm afraid. |
