Being a Saints supporter
at 10:22 24 Dec 2025

I am one of those, moved away 20 years ago for work, but still travelled down (140 miles each way)

On train last week for Coventry game, I met a couple who were life long season ticket holders (40 years), that moved away 30 years ago and travelled down to all home games from Peterborough often having to stay over for mid week games.

I take my Santa hat off to them !

What Was Frank Lampard's Problem After Southampton Game
at 16:23 22 Dec 2025

Nick summed it up perfectly.

He should have just rose above it.

Given that it was splashed all over the press and Sky, he has just drawn more attention to himself.

When teams play Coventry, you just know what the opposing fans will do now.

Merry Christmas.
at 07:45 21 Dec 2025

As much as I would like to get back to Premiership, I don't think we are ready and I wouldn't want another season like last.

On a positive note, we have ended the year getting some results and playing better, although that wasn't hard based on first few months of season.

Coventry was my last game this year. It's now time to re-charge, enjoy Christmas with my family and friends and get ready for a positive new year.

Happy Christmas all.

There was a period in TE's first few games where we stopped doing it, but agree it can't be that ingrained into the players still from RM's days, so the players must still be coached to play this way.

I reckon we should put Bazunu up front, after his display in the last 2-3 minutes.
Still not sure why he went up, seemed a bit risky to me.

I wasn't sure if Fellows was playing 'Rush Goalie' at this point ?

Just read the fall out and seen video from Lampard's red mist at the end of the game. Apparently it was because of the chanting from the Northam that he was just a "sh*t Steven Gerrard !".

He needs to grow up. That was pathetic.

He will get charged for that.

Must admit, it was the fastest I saw Wellington move all afternoon as the melee kicked off !

As the saying goes, a game of 2 halves.

Coventry played with their usual high line, with at least 3, which caused us to start playing 'Rusty' ball across the back.

We did have some good chances in first half (probably better than Coventry ?). Their keeper had and excellent game, which on another day could have been different. It's hard to accept, that we still cant defend aerial balls into the box.

The 2nd half was a lot better and we created a lot and penned them in their own half.

When Wellington first arrived, I was optimistic, but he just seems to get worse and got caught napping twice.

Coventry were well organised and played well. However, this was 2 points dropped, especially after they went to 10.

What happened at the end when it all kicked off. I was just on way down steps, and then saw Lampard getting involved ?

I also noticed they did the old Saints stunt of going down and then rushing to the bench for instructions. Their keeper went down for ages and it was always players going down on the opposite side to dug out !

Finally, only 2 subs today, which we rarely see.

Empty seats at norwich
at 17:02 17 Dec 2025

I agree, there probably is a contractual agreement in there. It shouldn't stop them being released back to fans, if managed properly.

When my company had Arsenal (Corporate) seats for home games only, we always knew who was using what seat. Admittedly, we only had 10. We also ensured one of our employees attended as well, to avoid any issues, that could come back and damage company reputation.

Easy on the question marks.

I get it, I made a mistake and stand corrected. it changed in July, when they became front of shirt.

There were about 6 dotted around in rows near to me. Nothing too significant.

I saw the picture of a whole block that was empty (didn't notice on day). This just didn't make sense, and suggests it was corporate as they were all together ?

I have no objection to sponsors getting some tickets, given the investment in the club, but it is frustrating to see empty blocks of seats at games officially sold out. if the blocks are Sponsor allocations, it would help if they handed back any tickets not needed. I am sure there are many saints fans that would welcome a ticket, even at very short notice.

If Sponsors are wasting tickets, then the club needs to have a serious conversation with them.

On a separate note, I worked for a large corporate in London, and we had corporate/hospitality tickets for Arsenal. These were were offered to clients who also regularly failed to use them or turn up.

Good luck Hedge End. That is some record !

As for a couple of quid, looking at the prices for next year it will probably need more than a couple of quid ! :)

Enjoy !

Does this mean no Hedge End flag next year ?

An old colleague of mine, has done last 5 World Cups, but has decided against next year because of prices. Must admit, I don't blame him. They are ridiculous, and I have sympathy for those who follow England (and others), build up points to guarantee tickets and then get shafted like this.

Interesting article in telegraph today, referencing FA's silence, why they haven't spoken up etc and the extra costs FIFA added because number of teams increased ?

It could have all been different (perhaps) if Scienza's free kick in 1st minute had gone in.

All of the back line today were complicit in this crazy side to side passing. I don't even think Norwich pressed that hard, certainly not as much as Millwall and West Brom, yet we just invited them to come forward.

Fraser was playing far too deep. When he did get forward, he stopped and went backwards. He offered no out let and created nothing. Needs to be dropped. Even when Wellington came on, he also got involved in the tippy tippy stuff. 87 mins gone, and they were still doing it !

As for Baz comments, I didn't think he did anything wrong today.

Tonda needs to sort this out and fast. We are looking far too predictable.

As for their winner, I wasn't sure at first if it was hand ball, but when they stop showing a replay on screen you know it is contentious ! Seen it now, but still wouldn't want VAR back.

That was definitely 3 points dropped today.

Norwich Away
at 12:58 11 Dec 2025

One of my favourite visits.

Fortunately, I am only 90 mins on train away, and Anglia rail doing a day return deal (specific train times only). For those with a Network Rail card, you can do a 'Split' ticket upto Ipswich (It doesn't cover all way to Norwich).

If driving, I wouldn't recommend parking too close to ground as getting away is bad and there will be xmas shoppers as well. There are some schools locally that offer parking on fringe of town. Can't remember names, but you will probably see signs.

It's a shame it is an early KO as there are some decent pubs in the City. I am not a big fan of Wetherspoons, but won't knock their prices and this time I will be going to Queen Iceni on way to ground for a breakfast and quick beer !

Looking forward to another win !

I saw the extended highlights of Ipswich v Coventry. It was noticeable, how Cov played with such a high line. On numerous occasion Ipswich just exposed this by playing over the top, and Coventry struggled with Ipswich pace. If Coventry play like that against us, Fellows and Armstrong should have a field day, unless the back line decide to play rusty ball at the back, in which case they will close us down very quick.

Birmingham Game Matchday Thread
at 18:25 6 Dec 2025

Big questions again today over the substitutions. Scienza and Armstrong were probably our best 2 players, taking them off with 30 mins to go (inc 6 mins extra time) didn't make sense. They were still lively and creating chances. I can only assume he was saving them ahead of mid week game ?

Aribo and Romeu replacing Azaz and Jander on 80 mins, was a risk. Both Aribo and Romeu looked way off the pace and Birmingham took advantage. As mentioned earlier, Aribo was lucky to only get a yellow for a reckless challenge. He lost the ball easily and then chased player and took him out.

In last 10 mins we struggled to get ball away, defending deep again and inviting Birmingham on to us.

We did move the ball quicker today, but missed some very good chances.

Finally, their keeper made Bazunu and McCarthy look world class ! Bazunu did ok today, but again beaten from outside the box.

We march on !

It was for all the wars he has solved. It was 7 last week, but I heard him quote 8 today, so he must have sorted another war out this week ?

I did laugh when he said to a journo today that he doesn't need awards, he just wants to save lives.
I lost count how many times he said he should get a Nobel peace prize !

5 Things About Millwall
at 08:25 2 Dec 2025

An expensive day and early start for a quick day out for somebody who is not passionate about Saints ?

The support was ok. I have seen/heard better, but most (certainly more that 150 people as suggested) got behind the team. I accept the Millwall support was good, but there were long spells where they went quiet and they were on top most of the game.

Splitting Saints fans between upper and lower tiers (not sure how many were in the upper) probably didn't help.
