couldn't believe they got in the playoffs, then that they won them, then that they've gotten off to such s good start. As others have said, I think they have an outstanding manager and wouldn't be at all surprised if they stay up and do quite well, assuming he isn't pinched by someone else |

It’s not about not having any losers or giving out medals for mediocrity, it’s about a balanced, reasonable response, instead of the apparent (I don’t swim in the Social Media sewer) spiteful, nasty pile-on.
This isn’t a dig at you but everyone’s reality is different. Just because theirs isn’t the same as yours doesn’t make either of you right or wrong.
Society these days can be vile. There’s just no need for it. |

On the other hand, that wouldn’t give him any security if he breaks down again. It might be that the contract is longer we’ve just built in a reasonable release clause. Maybe a two year with an option on our side to extend but with a release clause in the meantime. That feels like a more balanced option where both parties potentially benefit without the other losing out too much. Pure speculation though [Post edited 5 Sep 8:30]

Some unnecessary nastiness on this thread. If this is a refection of the wider reaction on social media, doesn't reflect well on the fanbase.
I'm personally just pleased we seem to have a decent team to watch for once.

Maybe I’ve missed something obvious or not reading between the lines, skim reading, Hunter, but…..
A footballer under contract is a commodity, otherwise no club would ever get a fee for one. Like any commodity, they’re worth what someone’s prepared to pay for them. That’s determined by supply and demand. Low demand (I.e. one club looking to sign two centre backs), high supply (I.e. seven centre backs) means that the buying club can go to the selling clubs and buy the cheapest. If one of the other clubs wants to sell they’re going to have to drop the price. Now, of course, they don’t have to do that and, if they don’t think it worthwhile to do so, will simply not sell the player.
Conversely, when you’re selling you want a few clubs to be interested to drive the price up I.e low supply (one player) high demand (multiple clubs).
It seems entirely reasonable to believe Watford have made it clear they’re shopping around so that a club, late in the transfer window, might sell at a discount, rather than lose the sale. I don’t know if that has happened, of course, but it doesn’t seem implausible.

If this standoff is true, someone at the club needs to step in to mediate. You would think Lee Hoos is mature enough and experienced enough to do that. That’s not taking sides, it’s pragmatism. It would clearly be in the best interests of a young player and the club, both in the short and medium terms, to get this resolved sensibly. If there’s no one at the club that can do that it reflects very badly on the individuals concerned. It’s also not going to be very helpful to those people if things don’t go well this season and Kolli is somewhere else doing well. I would imagine the owners would take a pretty dim view. |

They might make a load of chances for him but, going by his career to date, he’ll miss most of them. I still can’t quite believe that chance he put over the bar from half a yard out, in the middle of the goal, at the Loft end. It defied the laws of physics.
Great character, not many would get off a sickbed with pneumonia, to get back playing asap, but a poor finisher nonetheless. That being said, wish him well, apart from against us, of course.
Edit: or maybe that was Hugill. Apologies to Lyndon if it wasn’t him. Maybe his was the one that hit the keeper from about a yard away. Too many sitters missed to recall them all. [Post edited 6 Aug 20:42]

Not a good look. If he’s had an interview he must be qualified for the job he’s applied for. Obviously, I have no idea what the job is or who he’s in competition with and, although no one’s entitled to anything, any employer will take all factors into account so someone with his profile should be in a pretty strong position. The person they’re giving the job to must be very impressive. |

Bit harsh.
Even Brentford and Brighton sign duds. These two were punts who, in the grand scheme of things weren’t expensive. Not really comparable to the dross we’ve had before and the huge money wasted on the likes of Bonne and the like.
There’s plenty to criticise the club for, seems an odd thing to have a dig at. |

This regime’s Achilles Heel has been keeping players fit. Given their track record I wouldn’t trust them. For that reason alone, if the money’s right, he should be sold, otherwise we’re likely to have another asset devalued, sat on the treatment table in a year’s time. |

Reflecting on this, it is an absolute travesty what the football authorities have done to the sport. Regardless of views on whether he’s done a good job or not, here’s an owner with monumental wealth behind him, who’s been in situ for close to 20 years, basically giving up on a decent, historic second tier club because attempting to progress has become futile. The owners can’t fund their ambitions because the authorities stop them, under some ridiculous pretence that’s the only way to protect clubs from unscrupulous owners, basically punishing good owners because of the occasional weapon who, if they’d been fit for purpose, the authorities would never have allowed to buy a club in the first place; basically, making decent owners carry the can for their own incompetence. Not forgetting, of course, the thinly veiled drive to ensure decent, historic Championship clubs never forget their place in the food chain. |
