After those draws the board backed the manager by buying a centre forward, firstly Terry Melling and then, in the February Tony Buck. Problem identified and solved with promotion the result. |

I see that the Leverkusen CEO is moaning about the state of the Bielefeld pitch…… |

Fleetwood Town’s latest accounts (for 2023/2024) show a loss of £9.3 million. Total losses are over £40 million but this is explained as being covered by a “parent loan”. |

BJ is going to have to make some crucial decisions should the players mentioned be available. EEL or Hogan as defensive pivot for example. Getting these decisions right could be the difference between success or defeat. |

Including Norman Whitehead who later worked on the Mersey Ferry Service. You can’t get more Scouse than that! |

You could probably pick a team of eleven scousers from the Coleman era alone although some of them weren’t the most memorable….. Joe Rafferty is perhaps the standout but not George Donnelly! |

There’s always a need for an element of physicality. We’d have struggled without the signing of Hogan for example and Bird brought a new dimension as he’s more vigorous than Mitchell. |

That Aldershot team was exactly the opposition Dale needed after the last couple of home games. It could have been a lot more than four to be honest. BJ picked exactly the right team so credit there. The return of Gordon was a major boost. He’s so influential at both ends of the pitch. And I think BJ got his subs right too although a couple were enforced. Aldershot couldn’t cope with the movement of Hendo and Rodney and when their manager made defensive changes it gave Tarryn the chance to run amok. He’s such a danger when given a bit of space and freedom. Just hope that Beckwith and Hogan only picked up minor knocks. The keeper did well too. His distribution was first class. |

Halifax have now gone four games without scoring a goal and Gateshead’s results haven’t been much better. |

Wages presumably? The likes of Norwood don’t come cheap. |

No sign of any new signings. Presumably Greg has gone home by now, |

Great pace bowler who was an integral component of the great Lancashire team of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Deserved his test call up. One of the longest run ups to the wicket that I’ve ever seen though! Nice bloke away from the cricket as well. He was a neighbour of ours in Shawclough for a few years and used to enjoy a pint in the Healey Hotel. |

Gateshead signed experienced forward Frank Nouble from Yeovil earlier this week. I suspect he’ll be in a hotel up there though, it’s not the easiest of commutes! |
