Ramsdale & KWP back against Fulham
at 17:19 22 Dec 2024

We do look more solid with a back 3 including Wood (not Stephens).
But I worry about our full / wing backs.
Where's Charlie Taylor.
Downes & Aribo are just not strong enough in midfield, Downes in particular cannot win the ball without giving a foul away.
And we're non existent up front,
AA continues to run around like a little boy lost.
Dibling looks decidedly disinterested now, I think his head is in a different place now.
Bringing Tall Paul on in 88th is a waste of time, he should have started, he must be so frustrated with the way he's been treated.

I just don't get that.
Archer has been our best forward this season & we all know that Armstrong is a Championship player.
I would have liked to see Tall Paul start alongside Archer, he deserves a chance.

Good to see both Ramsdale & KWP staring today.
That's got to help.
COYR give us some Christmas cheer.

Ivan Juric - Reasons to be cheerful 1,2,3
at 10:57 22 Dec 2024

He might be a Maniac, but he's not a magician.
He'll need a magic wand to turn our desperate season around.
But I'm hopeful that we'll get a team worth watching again, we've been deprived of that for too long now.

Not sure he'll be here next season to get us out of Championship.
He has a break clause in the contract which allows him to leave at end of season or for us to sack him at end of season.
He's guaranteed 2 Yr contract if in the very unlikely event that he keeps us up.
He'll deserve more than that if he keeps us up, perhaps the "Freedom of the City" .

If Juric prefers Stephen's as one of his Ctr Backs then he'll immediately go down in my estimation.
Stephen's like Martin should be history.
A strong coach should be able to manage difficult players so I would like to see if he can get a tune out of ABK not Stephen's.

Come on Grumps.
We all wanted Martin out didn't we, we're not spoilt for choice because there are not many Managers / Coaches that would relish & accept this job.
It worries me that Juric was sacked after only 12 games with Roma, let's just hope he lasts a bit longer with us.
We know that we are down this season, Most of us just want to see an improvement & some football that we can enjoy, Martin never produced that.
Let's not tag him as "Ivan the Terrible" just yet.

Does anyone know.
Does he speak English language.
I just can't handle trying to decipher what foreign managers are saying.

This appointment tells us exactly where we are financially, we couldn't afford to pay any club compensation for nicking their manager.
Are we keeping some funds to buy players in January or do we just not have enough to pay compensation.
We'll find out in January transfer window.
I think we'll get rid of more than we'll bring in.

Sugawara should be a regular, him & Tall Paul added a different dimension to the side.
As others have said, start with Tall Paul & Archer up front. ( Not Armstrong)
I have been disappointed with Downes this season, just not disciplined enough as a holding midfield player, I see why West Ham were happy to let him go, he would not have got games there.

I hope not.
Liz Truss lasted longer as PM than he did in his last job.
He's a Journeyman.

Let's just hope it's a rumour then.
But in reality what decent ambitious Manager / Coach would choose to come here under this ownership.

If the rumours are true then it looks like our new manager will be Carlos Corberan.
I personally don't know much about him apart from the fact that he's done well at WBA.
Apparently he's considering an offer that's on the table from us.
Let's get it done & look forward to some improvement from the Russell Martin era.

Liverpool Carabao Cup Game Matchday Thread
at 12:31 19 Dec 2024

I thought we were a bit unlucky last night.
Both of Luverpools goals were as a result of our deflections & Archer scored a Christmas cracker albeit he was fortunate to get the ball via a deflection.
Then to rub salt into our wounds we were robbed of a penalty when Fernández was dragged down on the edge of the box.

They won't give it to Lallana because we still need him as a player.
He might not manage many minutes but when he's on the pitch he's probably our best player.

It’s going to be Lallana, isn’t it?
at 09:24 16 Dec 2024

I agree I think Lallana would be a sensible choice ( but SR don't do sensible choices).
No risk & no cost.
But, we still need him as a player, albeit he's limited to his playing time, he's still probably our best player at the club.

Who Do You Want For The Next Saints Manager

It's not a case who do we want.
With SR it's a case of "Who's the cheapest"

We didn't actually play any better in 2nd half.
Spurs just took their foot off the gas & allowed us to have possession to see the game out.
When you're 5-0 up at half time why would you bust a gut in 2nd half.
