The thing is I expect all six of those teams to finish above us. Then there is the unwritten rule that Norwich and Sheffield Utd always have to finish above us so that leaves us outside the top 8. We don't help ourselves having played all of the bottom 3 at home and only won once which is same old Rangers. A squad of crocks will not get us promoted no matter what our potential is. |

There seems to be an opinion that we would have lost this game last season so be content with a draw. The way I see it we have been better than Burnley this season and therefore we should have expected to win and not be satisfied we drew. When we were as bad as Burnley were tonight they stuffed us on their previous two visits. This was a wasted opportunity to beat them as they will probably start getting their act together when their new manager gets to grips with them.
It seems to be an unwritten rule that a team in poor form sacks their manager just before playing us and then we fail to beat them and here is another example. Preston did the same and since their draw at our place I think they have only picked up one more point.
It appears the thinking is that Lincoln is the easiest game of this difficult period but just a little reminder a few weeks ago Lincoln beat this poor Burnley team 4-1 to see off their manager. It was always going to be the case that Burnley would park the bus tonight as their first away game since Lincoln so we should have expected it. As Lincoln whacked this Burnley side then Saturday could be a more difficult game then Burnley tonight. [Post edited 4 Nov 0:17]

The bright lights of 16th are getting brighter as we gradually drop down the table. For the first time this season Sheffield United have gone above us. A few weeks ago Norwich were bottom three but now are right behind us. Portsmouth have moved above us and I note Stoke have won four away games on the bounce hence why they are now five points ahead of us.
I am extremely hacked off that a crap Burnley side got a point. When they were good they beat us easily on our patch but we can't return the favour when they are struggling. Two reasons for not winning is the loss of injured key players and not having a decent striker to convert draws like tonight and against Bolton/Preston into wins. In truth tonight the game should have been goalless as I believe both keepers should have stopped the two goals. We were too slow going forward and too much passing and not having a shot at goal which was reminiscent of last season.
My mood not improved watching Sky Sports and Francis Benali describing Southampton's first half showing tonight as shocking. Of course they played on top of their game against us like they did last season. |

As with the Birmingham game we conceded the second ten minutes into the second half and we were done. Perhaps I am in a minority of one here, but I really couldn't understand the fourth goal.
We are down to ten, approaching the 95th minute, we have lost the game so I expected us with a man short to park the bus and keep the score respectable. Basically we lost the ball in their half and one pass through the middle and they have a clear run towards our goal to get a fourth. What happened to the defence, it appeared most of our team was in their half. Why? We did similar at Brum for their third goal. 2-0 and 3-1 looked better than 3-0 and 4-1. I don't see the point in committing men forward in stoppage time while two goals down. Haven't they heard of damage limitation?
I am still miffed that Bolton went there and kept a clean sheet and Pompey only let one in during their last two home games while they wiped the floor with us. We are such a soft touch at times and so erratic. I hope we won't be so soft against Burnley as we were on their previous two visits. |

Yes it's getting beyond a joke. I can only recall Liverpool beating us 7 in a row and they were bloody good. An aggregate score of 9-1 in two visits this year. Not so long ago Saints were losing 9-0 at home to Leicester. Once again it was men against boys.
Our last four games have all been one sided, 4-1 and 5-0 wins at home at home and 0-3 and 1-4 defeats away. It makes it look like there are two divisions within one league rather like the Premiership. It wouldn't have looked so bad if we hadn't conceded stoppage time goals today and at Birmingham as two goal defeats would have been better reflections of both games.
Whilst it might be true Southampton look a cut above, in their previous two home games they only beat Portsmouth 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Bolton. In comparison we were hopeless in defence and I thought we might have made it more difficult for them to score. I am scratching my head how Bolton could prevent them scoring and then concede 8 goals in their following two home games.
I really hope we can bounce back and beat Burnley who have stuffed us 8-0 on previous visits as we owe them but now we have lost another striker. These injuries will be our downfall I fear. |

As you say let's hope we do give Southampton a game as our last visit there was men against boys an absolute horror show. Of course we had a great win on Saturday but so too the Saints scoring three at West Ham so they will also be on a high.
It is probably only me, but I was miffed Kone missed that sitter in the first half and Kolli shooting wide when the goal was gaping at the end as I wanted us to get seven to erase the Coventry drubbing from my memory banks. Guess I'm a greedy so and so never satisfied...  |

We lost at Norwich last season after they changed their manager and couldn't beat Preston recently after booting out their boss. Not good news for our next home game. |

As Burnley are visiting shortly you can guarantee they will sack their manager in the ne t week or so and we will face a more motivated Burnley team. |

The disappointing aspect was an old failing of last season returned today conceding just after half time which we did a lot of last season. It seemed to settle the contest today and we appeared to accept it was game over from that point. I was expecting a bit more from us and being relatively in form despite the injuries. I hope it was a bad day in the office and not the start of a slump in form. After the next two tough matches we then have Burnley and Lincoln at home, perfectly winnable if we have some of the wounded back. |

When you have a three game week, it really doesn't help when they add on 10 minutes stoppage time in a game that was done and dusted. Derby just wanted to get off the pitch and go home and we were just seeing out the game a man down. I understand the time being added on to the full extent but in the circumstances last night the additional time was not going to change the outcome. I don't think either side would complain if only 4 minutes added on as it was 4-0 not 1-0. The longer you keep tired players out there the more likely they succumb to injury. We nearly played a full half of extra time. |

Agreed. Staggered to see Swansea are 9 points above us but I guess if they keep winning while we keep drawing such a gap can be made. I find it frustrating that Cardiff can score four in one half whereas we struggle to convert chances, then you see Brum score four against a team we couldn't beat in the last home game. Just to add to this we now see Blackburn above us so it's about time we win a game tomorrow... |

If anyone watched the Millwall v West Ham game you will have seen Millwall dominate for 65 minutes leading 2-0 with 100% grit and effort. Then they ran out of steam, West Ham took control of the last 20 minutes after making their subs and pinned Millwall back and got it back to 2-2. What I saw on Friday was an identical game but this time it was our subs that made West Ham better, not their own. When so called lesser teams tire, the quality of more fancied teams takes over. If Millwall and us didn't run out of steam, I doubt West Ham would have comeback. |

After looking so comfortable for much of the game it was annoying we couldn't get the second goal. Unfortunately we have been more often than not, plagued by injuries and this often results that when we make subs we actually get worse. We have had this problem for years that our subs weaken us. In the end we could have lost so I guess it was no surprise we once again don't win away in London.
Still the drama at the end made it a pleasing draw as we deserved something from the game. We also have to look at West Ham's recent home games where they put 4 past Wolves and 6 against Wrexham so the boys did well to concede only once. |

I did say after that City game that I was unimpressed that we had fans celebrating a winning goal against us. That was a game we should have stopped City winning the league and the kudos we would have got from that. I said at the time City would go and dominate and all we would have done is temporarily delay them winning the Premiership. It was clear with their state funding they would be financial giants buying all the trophies. I get that people hated Man Utd that day but I said after that game that in time people would come to hate City too. I was right about that looking at what fans of other clubs have to say about them.
Anyway can someone wake me up when the 3-2 defeat that day gets overturned for cheating... |

If City are booted out of the EPL does this mean the EFL could reject them as cheats not wanted in any of the three leagues? Send them into non league football please.
Can they retrospectively strip them of the 2012 title and wipe out their late goals against us and award us a 2-1 win? Like to see that happen as it will finally stop all the footie channels showing the Aguero goal if it was retrospectively disallowed. |
