Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report
at 08:09 27 Feb 2026

this is true, and as a child of the late 60's, I do agree. However, I believe it was always the way. My dear old dad (God bless 'im) used to bang on about how the game we watched wasn't the same as back in his day. Heavy leather ball that soaked up the water, break your neck if you head it, no subs so if you broke your leg you had to run it off etc; not quite jumpers for goal posts but you get the picture.

It is definitely worse these days - the Premier League circus holds very little appeal for me; but therein lies the rub; I want us to do well and win every game we can; I want us to get promoted; and yet I would hate it at the same time

agree - this is very well put and quite sobering. I've been going to Loftus Road for 50 years on and off, and more on than off since returning from overseas a few years ago. And since then we've done pretty much bugger all - nothing in the cups obviously, and only the failed promotion push under Warburton that got exciting for a short while - otherwise relegation battles or the proverbial mid/lower table obscurity.

And I've just kind of accepted it. There's the odd highlight along the way of course (Jimmy's late winner against Brum a particular fave), but mostly it's either average or crap. And I haven't really questioned it, just accepted it, but your post is spot on. And it's making me really think. I'll be there on Saturday, but also can't be arsed with it. And I know others feel the same. I wonder how many more games (or even seasons) I'll sit through before the indifference takes over.

We treat it as a bit of an in joke about how QPR'd things get, about how typical it is for us to do these crap things. But we really shouldn't. it is unacceptable and has been for years and years. If only there was an answer or solution, but far better brains than mine have tried to crack it and failed. So maybe we are just doomed to continued underperformance and failure with the occasional bit of abjectivity thrown in for good measure.

That said, I guess I will continue going for the foreseeable......

Thanks for the report - about as balanced as it could be in the wake of a 5-0 defeat! I can see you make a lot of effort to deliver a balanced view based on reality, rather than an emotional diatribe that I think we could all dekiver after that.

You raise some good points about acceptable standards, and expected QPRisms, cos that's who we are and what we should expect.

But we don't ever expect that performance even if we know it's somewhere in the locker. Conversely, my own reaction was to be so pissed off at the 4th goal that I practically ran back to the car immediately.

However, halfway up the M3 I was quite happy about being closer to home, in the warm and not really thinking about the game. Perhaps I too, have become desensitised to all of this nonsense.

Roll on Saturday

agreed - but giving abuse is a very different thing from not clapping

interesting points you raise here and you have made me think.
I said on an earlier post that if I was still there at the end I would not have applauded. However, if the players were genuinely coming over to apologise then I totally get your points and I reckon perhaps, just perhaps I may have been a little more forgiving.
Never black & white this stuff, but your post certainly made me think

It's a personal choice of course. I left after the 4th went in cos I'd had enough. If I had stayed until the end I don't believe I would have clapped them as there was nothing to applaud. In my view, respect, plaudits and support have to be earned in all walks of life including football and if the team put on a performance like that it seems disingenuous to applaud it. It was utter garbage. As others have said, Southampton didn't really look all that and they won 5-0. Says it all

I'm generally not one to look for scapegoats but having just watched it back on the Sky highlights, Walsh has to do better for their 2nd and 4th goals. The 5th was a decent strike - first time seeing that as I was already back at the car by that point.

On the plus side, at least I was home nice and early, so that's a bonus

just back. Utter garbage. I couldn't tell what system we were supposed to be playing. Southampton didn't look all that in the first half but conceding the 2nd right on half time changed the mentality for both teams. We looked defeated as soon as we came out for the 2nd half.

Anyone want a couple of tickets for Saturday?

History in the making – Preview
at 10:39 24 Feb 2026

What a marvellous preview - one of your very best. I enjoyed that very much and it has got me very much in the mood for tonight, one of the handful of aways I can make.

I also learned that what happens at football must stay at football if you want to be allowed to continue taking your young daughter to games :)

I shall predict nothing, but I am hopeful.

great bit of business by the club. Anyone who saw him play more than 5 games for us would reach the same conclusion

Man city vs Liverpool ghost goal
at 18:21 9 Feb 2026

Let's be honest, it's all b*llox. Football died a long time ago and got replaced with the commercial beast we see today.
The VAR incident from yesterday is brilliant for the broadcasters and the school kids - it means prize w*nkers like Carragher and Neville can c rap on about it forever and a day. And sadly there are people who lap it up. And the whole thing goes around in circles getting bigger and bigger.
Match going fans have long since stopped being of prime (any?) consideration to the organising bodies and the broadcaster pay masters, and that will never get reversed. It will get worse, and worse and the game as we knew it will continue to suffer.
it's why I struggle so much with the dilemma of QPR getting promoted - as far fetched as that may seem currently.
On one hand, it's why competitive sport exists and supporters should want their club to succeed.
On the other, the thought of being part of that circus they call the Premier league just does not appeal.

Enjoy the Championship and Loftus Road while we still can peeps - it may not exist in this form for too much longer

good report Jamie - thanks for that. I saw the game the same way as you did it seems; I think a draw was fair in balance, but I don't know why we had to play so cautiously for the first 60 minutes. It's only Charlton FFS.
Oh well, onwards.....

Kone,s back flick

do they? Hadn't seen that.

I was in the Lower Loft and couldn't work out how, as the ball seemed to come in square to him, he'd managed to score. It's only on the replay where you can see just how good a goal it is. Add in the build up play and the quality of Madsen's ball into the box, it's one of the very best I've seen in the flesh. Outstanding

hard to know from the statement how this was handled, but at face value it seems like the club have treated him fairly (as they should have done)

The antidote – Report

Great report as always. Ridiculous club this isn't it? After last week I was considering not coming again for a while as it was just too much, even for us. But thankfully I was there for this and what a thing to witness. I've spent the rest of the weekend in a fantastic mood and thinking how much I love this club. Can't wait for Friday now (!)

Weirdly, at the Wrexham game, after the equaliser it felt inevitable that they'd get the winner. Here though, even with 7 minutes of added time I was strangely calm and confident. I thought our defence looked solid all game apart from their goal which was the only real lapse. And there was something in Jimmy Dunne's body language that made me feel we were not going to let this slip. Another proper captain's performance - him and Cook were immense. Perhaps he read last week's report?

Great stuff

Possession stat

Have to agree - half time stats reckoned we had 33% possession. Didn't seem that way to me and everyone around me in the lower loft.

Perhaps I was watching a different game

Agree - he looks a good player. Really like him in that role behind Kone and as others have said, having him and Madsen in the team who can both open up defences with their passing is great. What happens when Burrell and Chair are fit? Nice problems to have

I always liked Frey. Pretty limited player but you could not fault him for effort and when fit, he certainly added a different option when we needed something off the bench.
Best of luck to him
