Special mention for the kits last night
at 21:22 26 Feb 2026

EFL should mandate that main/home shirt MUST be worn at an away game unless there is an obvious clash. Shorts should be treated as a separate item, should never clash and the away team change short colour if necessary.

I don't think our blue and white hoops clash with anybody except Reading and they look obviously different to say Brum's blue or Swan's white BUT we could wear our away shirt if deemed necessary in those circumstances.

Most importantly, we should wear hoops against stripey teams. We should have wore home shirt and home shorts against Saints. Dunno what the club or the officials were playing at really.

Well done Chelsea!
at 20:56 26 Feb 2026

Ordinary folks, PAYE grunts, hand back nearly half of everything they earn to HM Gov via taxes. Income is taxed and taxed heavily. This is clearly appalling, who would do that!? But, rich folks avoid generating income to avoid paying tax. They spend money on assets and borrow money against those assets. Loans do not attract income tax. So work all year, earn £100k and hand over virtually half to the taxman OR borrow £100k and keep it all to yourself except interest of say 8%.

Obviously this is hugely simplified but you get the gist.. I suspect Chelsea are playing a blinder. Their goal is to acquire good players, win trophies and not fall foul of EUFA financial rules. I would say they are achieving that quite nicely.

There is literally no need for them to "make money" or "turn a profit" as long as they can borrow money and service the debt. I'm not an accountant but I guess that the total value of their assets and what their owners can legitimately underwrite well exceeds their debts so they are basically financially sound and can carry on splurging.

Our finances might look piddly next to theirs but I wouldn't be surprised if their asset to loan/debt gearing is healthier than ours. Same models, just scaled differently.

Do we not all want the same thing?

I want world domination. Trophies every year and international away games. Preferably whilst I'm sentient and mobile, maybe a couple of decades.

Mr Kone

I did want to see Kone and Kolli as a front pair but don't think it works - they're too similar. Maybe given time they could gel but sooner Burrell is back the better, I think him in Kone compliment each other and are a potent pairing.

Kolli would be a good back up for Kone I think cos blimey, Kone is being asked to do a helluva job game to game at the moment.

Mediocre manager providing mediocre outcomes. Also, too many timid shot-shy performances that are just plain dull to watch irrespective of the result. I don't think I'm wrong in saying it feels like for every decent entertaining enjoyable game there are at least four absolute stinkers.. it's just dull and a waste of time/money watching this shower labouring under a duff uninspiring manager. I can't see I'll bother with another game this season - I've seen enough and had enough.

THOMAS FRANK SACKED...
at 17:20 11 Feb 2026

Yes. Chimes with my point I think.. To be honest, in today's game I often wonder how much of a club's performance is attributable to the Manager/Head Coach. I think their main role is to be "on message" in terms of the club's philosophy as determined by Owner/CEO/Dof/COO (ie the "suits" above) AND to get the playing squad fully on board with that vision and all pulling in the same direction. Never mind coaching badges, they probably need skills in selling/pitching and psychology/motivation to succeed.

He's been absolutely useless at Spurs. Neither Warburton nor Frank were missed after leaving Brentford and both of them have failed since leaving Bees. Makes me think that Brentford's success is more about their owner, DoF, recruitment and set-up than the manager.
Strip Brentford from Frank's CV and your left looking at a train wreck of a stint at Spurs that ought to make any future suitor of Frank very wary.

I have to hold my hand up and say I thought he was all washed-up at end of last season and I was pee'd off when I discovered there was something in his contract that allowed him to stay another year and milk the club of another £million+ in wages.

However, I got it massively wrong - he's been consistently immense for several games, is keeping fit and is standing up to the brutal EFL schedule better than many of our younger players. Long may it continue too.

What is this nonsense about "only one bad result" ot "just a mad four mins"????

We've been rotten and stinking up the league for weeks, a dozen games or more.

I saw our last away win at Ewood - a giant turd of a game that we scraped a 1-0 from. But, y'kow, that's okay a win on the road and 3pts is all that matters so job's a good 'un.

But since then we've been a dreary stodgy shot-shy shambles on the road - absolutely shocking.

Barely much better at home, We went in 1-0 up on Saturday but atmosphere was like a morgue at HT. That 45 mins was plain dull to watch plus the foreboding sense Wrexham has settled and looked far neater and crisper than us and were bound to equalise at some point.

But given how we huffed and puffed for nigh on 70mins achieving sod all meaningful goal attempts in our last home game against the hapless Owls it shouldn't be much surprise that we unravelled against more dynamic opponents.

I don't know how many dull toothless showings it needs for people to wake up but I suppose I've seen it before with Warbs and Marti.... a weird belief that it will all come good if we just give them time. Trouble is, I can see this latest fraud taking us into L1 if we don't wise up.

He's another phoney. Blow me, we've been suckered by another smooth handsome charming dark haired bloke who talks a good fight but ultimately does not understand what it takes to successfully negotiate a Championship season.

He's never going to succeed in the EFL, sooner he's gone the better. I guess that'll be summer but maybe sooner if the current form goes deep into February.

It's bloody galling cos this is the weakest Championship we've seen in years and a massive opportunity to finish in the playoffs has been missed.

Yesterday was an absolute masterclass in how to lose a game of football, ticked every box needed. BUT, that was just the cherry on the cake in terms of a dire 10-game period that contains several right stinkers of games.

W Ham losing last night good or bad thing?
at 17:47 7 Jan 2026

Aside from their debacle at Wolves they are playing ok-ish, just not getting results.

Even if you view our 3-0 win on Sunday as positive it was the latest in a string of very iffy performances. We are NOT playing well at all.

I reckon they play a strong team and swat us aside without breaking much sweat. Should they go for a weaker team we might be able to give them a game and it could get tetchy and nasty amongst the locals. I can't see point in them risking that.

It should be noted that The Premier League have free Saturdays for rounds 4 and 5 of the cup. This means the Hammers don't create a fixture pile up by beating us (but they would lose the ability to jet off to the Bahamas for some winter training that free weekend).

Yes. They routinely get 45-50,000 bums-on-seats for less glamorous games biut always report 62,000 attended.
They are NOT up for this tie at all so can't see much more than 35000 turning up so they could easily give us loads more.

This is usually a deliberate tactic adopted by adult meffs who buy a cheap kid's ticket and then "flash mob" turnstiles en masse just before KO cos overwhelmed stewards can't be assed to intervene or challenge anyone at this juncture.
I suspect 50% of crowd at West Ham game will be on a kid or old duffer ticket. I'm deffo gonna be 66yrs old for this one....

Virtually impossible to get a train into Euston. Rail planner suggests I catch the 8pm train on Saturday night... I didn't even bother looking at return leg, probably quicker to walk.
Discovery+ is £32 per month - don't be fooled by their lower tired pricing cos it don't cover footy.

What are people’s thoughts on the Club pulling out all the stops in January ?
at 19:31 11 Dec 2025

I think its worth a punt by the owners. The BIG difference with this squad is we have some players who we could sell for a decent fee in the summer if we fall short.

Let's face it, the lack of genuine full-backs we have is a disgrace - how did we get here?? Just to be a credible XI next season we ought to be getting some FBs in January. Doing absolutely nothing would be a dereliction of duty.

He's a bag of nerves. The new manager clearly did not like what he saw over the summer and duly dropped him for an unproven rookie.
Circumstances have meant he got a recall but jeez, my heart stops anytime he has the ball at his feet or if there's a cross to be dealt with.
We had all this with Lumley, spent to much time mollycoddling him, giving him umpteen chances but ultimately he was not good enough. Nardi needs to be rested ASAP and moved on as soon as we can get cover.
An obviously jittery keeper who flaps at crosses is ruinous for any team with aspirations of being successful.
I dont know severity of Hamer's injury but he urgently needs reinstating.

FA Cup Draw Monday Evening
at 10:57 9 Dec 2025

Literally all the games are on telly in UK now. It will NOT be on Saturday at 3pm.

There is a midweek Prem programme the days before, West Ham play Tuesday.

It's gonna be Sunday at noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and maybe even 7/8pm I think but Thurs/Fri/Sat/Mon evening are not out of the question.

Barton watch - 6 month suspended sentence
at 10:51 9 Dec 2025

Why was this in Court? Seems a waste of time and public money, particularly as mentioned above the horrendous backlogs in the court system.

I thought Vine and Aluko had already sued Barton and that's fair enough, it looks like a civil matter to me.

General tweets like "burn them all!" get deemed as inciting hate and disorder but I'm puzzled why the state/crown sticks it's oar in for a puerile insult thrown at someone.
