| Forum Reply | Potential threat from the weather to Saturday's match at 17:51 23 Nov 2024
With the rain we have had today, I doubt the game would have been on at 3, it as poured down all day and the river in the town was extremely high. It will be interesting if the game at Gateshead is on, come Tuesday, because the weather predictions for next week are not sounding good. But we must remember according to some of the deluded Biffos they are a massive team and don't get games postponed, and if you read the forum, we cannot afford pitch covers, are scared of them, the pitch is rubbish, etc and one topic on their forum is classic, they regard City and United as their main rivals in the area, because that is how big a team they are. |

Listening to McNulty, Mitchell had a knock and should be fit for next week, hopefully we can get Gilmour back soon. So hopefully when we entertain the Biffos in two weeks time, we will have a near full strength squad. I think the lad from Stockport looks a good prospect, is he at the Dale to the summer? |

Good win today, Sutton posed a threat in the second half and limited the Dale to some extent, until the last 20 minutes when we started to open them up. I was surprised that Robson was not on the bench today. |

I have to agree with many comments, can McNulty learn from the mistakes, I hope so, because if McNulty succeeds, then the Dale succeeds, but based on the evidence of conceding absurd goals due to poor defending based on passing across the defence and goalkeeper, I have my doubts. Again listening to McNulty, he bemoans us conceding the two early goals, but it is his tactics of buggering about at the start of the game that was the cause and as others have mentioned, we do it virtually every game and have conceded goals, yet nothing changes. I am convinced that squad is good enough for the playoffs and promotion, and especially when we get the injured players back, we just need to more proactive in the early stages. I thought Bromley was a big physical team, but did not look that good, they will do well to survive in the EFL this season. |

Sorry I meant back three, bringing Hendo was good move, due to his experience, but we did need to make any more changes because we were doing well and I felt the other sub may have unsettled the team. Again the two subs in injury time seemed odd and I was surprised that Henry did not get a chance today, yes I accept that East and Henry are similar, but both have the skill to control the midfield. One of the main positives from today was Dennis, who looked good. |

2 - 0 down after 4 minutes was poor, it was the same old messing around at the back, it is getting to stage, we are repeating the same mistakes and negative tactics every week, why can McNulty learn or does he lack the footballing brain to change his tactics. At 3-2 we should be killing the game, but McNulty tries to pretend he a genius by making unnecessary changes. I get fed up with the passing across the back four like some training session and buggering it up, when we attack, we are a good side. [Post edited 2 Nov 18:49]

Are the two new signings available for tomorrow in the FA cup or not? |
| Forum Reply | Barnet match thread at 09:56 27 Oct 2024
I have just watched the highlights and their first goal was shocking to say the least, Burger got caught facing the goal, instead of looking to go forward, after receiving the ball from Robson, leaving the Barnet player with an open goal. Even the Barnet commentators seemed shocked by the Dale's defending and asked what were they doing. To be fair, their second was a good goal and again the Dales goal came about from a back pass, which lacked any pace and Hendo sneaked in to score. Senior was unlucky to hit the post from an angled shot. However the first goal reminded me of the goals conceded away at Eastleigh when 2 of the goals were down to messing around at the back. When will learn from the stupid errors? Hopefully we can get most of the injured back for the Oldham game, but Ferguson was missing yesterday with a knock, he may be back this week and there is a chance somebody else could be back next week. |

It makes you wonder why he does not start with Hendo, with Rodney and Ayinde missing and use Hendo's experience, ability and footballing brain. But as others have implied, we are our own worst enemy, we overplay the ball at the back at times, which can cause unnecessary problems for our defence and like today cost us a goal. I agree with others, who have suggested that McNulty, who we all want him to succeed to reflect on why we are conceding unnecessary goals and change the tactics slightly. Hopefully in the coming weeks we will getting players back from injury. [Post edited 26 Oct 18:42]

The Barnet forum said the same thing, we had enough chances towards the end to have won 4-2, it is getting annoying in the way we are throwing points away, yes Barnet are a good team, but it is still annoying. |

I wish he would tell Mcnulty, but at 2 - 1 we have a chance. |
| Forum Reply | Halifax match thread at 17:28 23 Oct 2024
When we played Forest Green, I was not impressed by them, but they have clearly improved since then. The aim of the Ogden's was that the Dale should at least qualify for the playoffs this season and we are capable of that. If we can get into the playoffs, then it is all to play for, it is down to a three game final, in that we could finish seventh and win promotion. |

I will give credit to Halifax, they dominated the game and overpowered us at times, but our defence fought with passion to keep them out. One thing I did notice, was that they played with pace, whereas we seemed at times slow, this allows the opposition teams to get organised. I thought Gordon's movement for his goal was good to watch, he started on the edge of the box and ghosted in behind their defence. Again, it was the same with Allarakhia movement and the nice pass of the ball into the box, which allowed McBride to head in. I was worried that McBride and Buyabu seem to go off with knocks, hopefully nothing serious. |

I would have to agree with you on the frustration on the players, who wanted the ball, whilst the defence was playing the ball between themselves, but are they just following the coaching and tactics of the manager? The TV commentators are just saying what the fans having been saying for a number of seasons going back to BBM, the co-chairman may like it, but it as cost us two relegations in recent seasons. Did anyone know if Henry was injured and was taken off as a result. Also it may be me, but I thought we improved when Hendo and McBride came on and I would be tempted to start with those two in the starting eleven on Tuesday. |
| Forum Reply | Southend Match Thread at 20:54 19 Oct 2024
We were very poor tonight, I accept we have something like seven first team players missing, but we failed to open them up to a great extent, we seemed more interested in either playing sideways across the defence or playing triangles, without going forward at any great pace, which allowed Southend to get organised in defence. I believe we have a side capable of promotion, but at times we are hamstrung by McNulty's tactics, it was at times like watching England, a good squad, but awful to watch at times. Hopefully McNulty will take the boos on board at the end of the game and change how he approaches the game on Tuesday. |

I have been thinking, who would I choose to get in the first round 1. Birmingham: either home or away, a decent gate and money earner. 2. Huddersfield: as above and it is local 3. Curzon Ashton: a nice local tie and a winnable game. No doubt we will get somebody in the south. |
| Forum Reply | AFC Fylde Match Thread at 08:33 13 Oct 2024
I thought Babayo seemed to operate on the wing, instead of operating at fullback, one thing is certain, he seems to have some pace and seemed keen to get the ball into the box at the first opportunity. In respect to Mitchell, he may be worth an extension, but either way, if the right bid comes in for him and I don't mean peanuts, can we stop going and progressing his career. It would also seem the injury curse as struck again, with McBride and Akinde both being out for around five to six weeks. |

First half was a bit dull to watch, but second half we ripped them apart and the lad on loan from Sheffield United was very good today, and I would say our MoM based on his performance today. I hope we get a good draw, when is it on Monday, i.e the time. |
