1. Not long got back. Was glad I stayed overnight; the days of me driving home just after the game from a long midweek trip are over, I think. So much better to catch up with celebrating Saints fans in the pub after the game.
2. The Fat Cat and Canary was a great pub, ticked a lot of boxes in what I like in a pub. Krombacher on draught (like Steingarten), loads of bar staff (unlike Steingarten).
3. Thought our support was decent, in numbers and noise. Had suspected a lot of people had bought tickets for the away credits, but there weren't many empty seats, just a few at the back.
4. Baffling team selection and also some of the subs were weird, but in Tonda we trust.
5. Jander was excellent, Dobbin very promising and Ward-Prowse is such a steadying influence.
Trying to keep my 100% record of League games for as long as I can, though I know I am going to muck it up next month. Hugely annoyingly, I can’t do Boro at home due to SKY moving it.
Just had a look on the ticket site and there are bloody loads of empty seats in Block 20 for the Bolton game.
Funnily enough, I seem to recall that the Itchen North often used to be the last part of the ground to sell out back in the day when the away fans were in the Northam.
Tickets for Saturday are not particularly cheap, I noticed. £30 a pop for an adult ticket in the Family Stand for a game against Bolton is a pretty punchy price TBF.
The Chapel doesn't usually sell out, so hopefully they'll leave us alone.
I actually saw more trouble for the dibble to deal with yesterday in the Kingsland, where it borders the away end. Some fun and games there after the game.
If the overwhelming majority of their support wasn't already embarrassed by him and wanting him out of their fanbase, they really should be after that.
Hard to say if that was their worst support; I was stood right by them in the Family Stand, though friends of mine who were elsewhere in the ground said they hardly heard them.
They will be a lot more hostile at their place, and coins aplenty will be getting chucked our way, as this is basically how they tend to be.
