Good thread! I wasn't sure either so I had a look for what the RSPB says. It's below.
I'd leave the boxes for this season. If you hang around near them now, you might cause any birds which are already nesting to desert their nests, unfortunately.
I'm not sure if it's really essential for nestboxes to always be clean because quite a few birds happily reuse old nests built by other species.
It is important to clean feeders regularly because they can carry a disease which badly affects finches :(
Nest box cleaning It’s helpful to clean your bird boxes out after each nesting season, so that they’re ready for the next breeding season. We recommend cleaning them annually, between September and January at the very latest. Make sure you check the box’s contents before you proceed with cleaning, as some birds can nest later or earlier in the season.
Use gloves to empty out any remnants of the previous nest, before pouring boiling water on the inside of the nest – this can prevent the risk of parasites in nests the following season. Make sure the box is fully dried before you put it back up. Please note: if any unhatched eggs are found in the box, they can only legally be removed from September to January in England and Wales and from August to January in Scotland, and they must be destroyed once removed.
In this match, the speed and power hitting of these two giants of the game is such that, genuinely, I checked that the playback speed was set to normal. It was!
This is heavy metal table tennis, brilliant yet utterly brutal
I'd heard of the band PFM but was totally unfamiliar with their oeuvre, so spurred on by this excellent thread, I had a rummage around in their back catalogue.
I stumbled across this lively slice of instrumental prog metal / symphonic prog.
I didn't go to that school but I know it pretty well because, as an adult, I played 8 a side football there on Thursday evenings, for many years.
I went to Aylesbury Grammar School. Man, did they work you hard! I used to have a ridiculous amount of homework
My mate's brother also went to AGS. He was in a punk band and one of their songs went: "I'm going grow up to be a s3x p3rv3rt, It's the only thing I learned in an all-boys school".
Make of that what you will. My experience there was pretty dull in comparison, but then he was in a lower year to me...
We'll never know the truth and I don't want to fall out with you or anyone else, or end up spending hours arguing about this, but I must add that it wasn't just Hillary who came to that conclusion. The CIA did too.
"US intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia interfered in last month’s presidential election to boost Donald Trump’s bid for the White House, according to reports.
A secret CIA assessment found that Russian operatives covertly interfered in the election campaign in an attempt to ensure the Republican candidate’s victory, the Washington Post reported, citing officials briefed on the matter.
A separate report in the New York Times said intelligence officials had a “high confidence” that Russia was involved in hacking related to the election".
I doubt we'll ever know the truth but the hacking of Hillary Clinton's e-mails arguably derailed her campaign for election. The White House said Putin was involved in the cyber-attacks.
She had irritated Putin by stating that the Rusiian election was rigged.
From the BBC article below:
"The CIA says Russia's motivation was to sway the election in favour of Republican President-elect Donald Trump, but no evidence has been made public".
"Seemingly Trump doesn’t want to fund the Ukraine to the same extent that Biden did".
I think the problem is that in politics, and in business too, a person who carries on doing what their predecessor did rarely gets any credit for doing so, even if it's still the right thing to do.
Trump only cares about himself, which compounds the problem.
To be honest - and I have zero in the know information - I don't think that the owners have any interest in moving us to a new home.
We're not Ruben's main business priority and any such project anywhere near Loftus Road would be an extremely complicated and lengthy undertaking. I just can't see it.
Alternatively, in the world of reverse psychology and knowing what a propensity I have to get things all wrong, there will probably be spades in the ground at 9.01am tomorrow
I've been driving in France for well over 30 years and it has mostly been fine. The crazy "priorite a droite" nonsense, whereby vehicles on your right have priority, even if they are on a tiny side road, seems to have become far less prevalent, thankfully.
Two additional tips: - Don't push your luck when you're getting low on fuel. There are some areas where petrol stations are very few and far between. We struggled to find any in central Brittany and there are none in the whole of the Castagniccia region of Corsica. Also, they may not be open late or at weekends.
You might already know of Zombi, I would describe their music as hard-edged progressive electronic *but* although there are a lot of synths in there, there are only two musicians, a proper drummer, and a bassist who also handles most of the keyboards and the electric guitars.
As a result, the drumming and bass playing are very much to the fore and propel the music forward.
Adrienne Davies' drumming - and of course, Dylan's guitar playing - is so precise and expressive in this. They really understand the power of the space between the notes.
