Welcome back, Marti ! Join me in the boardroom for a bottle of claret after the game ? (Just don’t tell any journalists or your new bosses won’t like it). |

Not sure we will ever see him as a manager but I’m pretty sure we could harness his knowledge, insight and experience much more than we do. Just need to keep that workload sensible and manageable. Maybe a more hands off DoF/advisory role perhaps - with an overview of coaching/selection/training/tactics etc. Might make the whole set up more cohesive, smarter and focused. Basic common sense would be applied a lot more and we’d probably get a lot more updates on our faves. BUT As he said the other night when he celebrated on Comms as Morgan scored and we won - ‘I hope my doctor isn’t listening !’ He’s just such a great guy for the club, hate to lose him. |

Madsen has pretty much done that this season and he deserves credit for that. Kudos to him and I hope he shows Marti how much better he is and we beat them. Can others do better and work harder - yes. Madsen is showing that’s possible. Leading in many aspects this season. Do they want follow that example ? We’ll have to see over time but it’s clear we have got the best out of one or two by playing them in the right position. Burrell is the other one but two players does not make a team. I would say we have a better squad this season overall but that does not mean we have a better team some games. Occasionally, a team appears and the team performs quite well. Then it disappears and we focus on individuals - good and bad. One or two play well, others bad and that often varies - with the exception of Madsen and Burrell who are the most consistent performers this season. Fix the team issue and I think the consistency will follow. Meantime, feels likeit’s going to lurch from the good to the bad - week to week, game to game. Compare with the Boro team yesterday - they were well drilled, knew their jobs, did their jobs and played as a collective. Probably do that most week, hence their league position. Bit of money helps matters, sure but look at how they used Whittaker compared to what he was doing previously. QPR don’t do team consistency for more than 30-45 mins most games - yet. I hope that changes because it will make a big difference in my uneducated opinion. |

Maybe they can just listen to Sints on Comms and adjust the plan from what he is seeing - failing that, at least talk to him at half time. Betsy is listening to something on his ear pods most games and laptop man is getting video and/or data feeds but it rarely seems to change what we are doing in game. Given that the comms position usually has a very different view to the bench perhaps that and decades of experience could be beneficial as the coaching team learn the teams and league. |
