The most points Dale have achieved in a 46 game 3 points for a win season is 82 (2009-10) We currently have 79 points with 13 games to go.
Had the 3 points for a win system been in place during the 1923/24 season over 42 games... We won 25 (matched this year with 13 games to go) = 75 Drew 12 (75+12 = 87) And then assume the four missing games were all won we'd have a presumptive total of 99 points. We have 13 games and a possible 39 points to play for to beat that notional target.
I wasn't confident with Jim staying as head coach after the end of last season. Those of us of similar opinion have been proven wrong. Jim is easily in record breaking territory in terms of this club's history. Even after a poor night in Halifax and a couple of recent draws which have jangled the nerves. Jim has done this club proud in 2025/26 and made this season one of the best ever.
Remember Radio Bolton's ace pundit "Former Rochdale Manager Steve Eyre"? Walter Joyce? To name but two?
After the first goal and then the substitution of TAR, we looked slow and toothless. Jim's changes changed nothing to our benefit which is a rare sight these days. When we went two up I thought we'd got away with it against a limited but hardworking side.
The late collapse was way too reminiscent of the sit back and hang on tactic that doesn't work for this side. The last five minutes v Carlisle at home we made sure we spent most of it camped in their area to secure the win. Not tonight.
Undefeated in 2026, but we deserved no more than a point at The Shay. The Dale fans who turned up in numbers and were vociferous and passionate in support of the team were let down by a team that mostly ambled instead of grafting.
The title race is far from over, but we need much better than that to compete for it. We have shown we are capable of much better.
A blow to the Ogden's principle of continuity as expressed at the last Fan's Forum. The limited dealings I've had with Andy D have been excellent. We're losing a fantastic asset. Hope his replacement is equally as capable. The standards the new ownership have set will prevent us suffering another Roger scenario. BS no more on this meadow.
Comprehensive win against an average team and, again, some awfully inconsistent officials. Where I was stood, Gordon had no need to dive and was fouled. "Offside" goal looked questionable. Top of the league despite the refs!
Thought Ebanks was magnificent throughout last night. The last two games, we've attacked like anything especially in the second half, but no goals. Had the possession, let down by poor crosses and finishing. Surely one day it'll come right and the goals will fly in!
A good win against a side that caused us problems, more so than Carlisle or Borehamwood did. That said, they did have the ref firmly on their side second half. So, we've done the double over FGR, Borehamwood and Carlisle. Impressive. Someone told me after the game that York's penalty was as soft as they come, someone else told me York have had 13 penalties this season compared to our 4. Conspiracy? Who cares, we're top of the league with 2 games in hand. Brilliant work by Jim and the lads.
Tried a cheese and onion pie today (£5.50 without peas). In pastry and content, delicious and enjoyable in every aspect. Overpriced? Yes. Buy again? Only if circumstances meant I couldn't be fed elsewhere. That said, the offerings were selling well at the Sandy kiosk .
What a time to be a Dale fan. Jim and staff have got a team spirit, squad, and desire that is up there if not beyond Hill/Croft at its best. All credit to them. They also are astute tactically, something that has been missing for a while. The players bust a gut for the club every single game and are as good to watch as I've seen in my 50+ years as a Dale fan. Was it 73/74 we won 2 games out of 46? This season we've won 23 of 28 so far which is beyond astonishing. The fans all round the ground believe. The Sandy has a sing and does its traditional best to back the lads, but U Block do the hard graft so well, game in game out. What we've needed for years. Hats off to them for their tenacity and energy. Brilliant work. It's appreciated by the players and gives results. We have majority owners who are beyond what we could ever have expected. Thank you so much.
A thorough, well deserved victory against a top 7 side. On a bitterly cold night, Dale showed what a TEAM they are. The substitutions worked again as well.
KG interviews superbly every time. He articulates what this squad is about so eloquently and with an enthusiasm that would win the most cynical Dale fan over. After he has proven his words on the pitch as an individual and team player. Magnificent all round.
Off the top of me head, Calvin Andrew late 1-0 winner v Port Vale at home a few years back. Graham Atkinson 1-0 late winner at Rotherham 1999? TVOS will no doubt have the answers!
