Dyche and the Police upset by abuse of Wood and Taylor
at 09:04:52

It's not the fact they left, it's the manner of their departure that rankles, with the behaviour of Taylor especially causing offence. He refused to play in the final game of last season, presumably through fear of picking up an injury. As for badly run, we've finally got a chairman who is neither dishonest or incompetent, and has money to back up our ambitions. Both players knew that when they left.

Fourth Round revives memories of famous 1970s cup ties

I see from the YouTube clip that Dave Bassett also conceded the penalty at Elland Road, and that he didn't dare tackle Eddie Gray in the same position in a later move. For all the raving about Dickie Guy's save, it looked like a rather poor penalty from Lorimer.

Fourth Round revives memories of famous 1970s cup ties

Amidst the excitement of winning the last three games, we must remember they were against the bottom two clubs in our division. Let's hope we can keep the run going against more difficult opposition.

Fourth Round revives memories of famous 1970s cup ties
at 13:37:29

Don't forget the famous Roy Ellam. Simon Grayson has managed both clubs, but a special mention is due to J. Hilton Crowther, who was chairman of both.

According to Wikipedia "Crowther's interest in football was sparked by the distinct lack of public interest in Huddersfield Town. Since the club had achieved Football League status in 1910, their attendances had been extremely poor". So it's no surprise that he later moved to take charge of the new Leeds United, where he saw far more potential.

Evans gets the dreaded vote of confidence
at 08:56:53

You can see Cellino's interview here:-

I think it's possible that on Monday night he told Evans not to speak to the media because he was going to sack him. Then yesterday morning he changed his mind, and just made up an excuse in this interview about why he'd gagged Evans.

He'll find that the fish and chips are surprisingly poor and expensive for a fishing town. Nice trams, though.

Leeds fans' fail to warm to a second Somma?
at 12:55:49

Somma is better than a League One striker, he did well whenever he got the chance in the Championship before his injury. McDermott has said he is looking for another striker, so if he gets fit Somma could save him the trouble of getting another loan player.

Dom pops plucky Cherries

I nearly bet on 2-1 to Leeds last night (at 7/1) but for some reason changed my mind at the last minute to make it 3-1 (odds of 15/1).

Note to self: NEVER back this Leeds team to win by more than one goal. When they get one goal in front they will always try to keep what they've got and will never go for the jugular and kill teams off.

LFW Travel Guides - Leeds, Elland Road
at 13:47:42

The pub you REALLY need to avoid is the 'United Bar' in Holbeck, formerly the infamous 'Wagon and Horses'.

The trouble with the special matchday bus service is that before the game you can only buy a return ticket, and afterwards you might have to wait ages for a bus back to town. If you're going to get the bus from the city centre and walk back you can get the number 1, which runs every 10 minutes from City square near the railway station, then get off by the Old White Hart pub at the top of Beeston Hill. (And I believe that pub is OK for away fans).

Ken Bates: What have we done to deserve this?
at 13:36:38

Not sure about "In 1987, The Pet Shop boys were one of the top acts in the country which was a remarkable achievement given they were a gay act".

In the 1980s it was virtually compulsory to be gay if you wanted a hit record. As in Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Boy George and Eurasure, Though admittedly George Michael hadn't yet come out, and the video to Elton John's 'Nikita' was a vain attempt to make out he was hetrosexual. (Even though Nikita is actually a man's name, as in Nikita Kruschev).

Warnock charged for his comments about Halsey
at 22:57:08

I've heard he wasn't charged for his comments, but because he told the players not to shake hands with the ref after the game. If that's true it's even more ridiculous! It doesn't say anywhere in the rules that you have to shake the ref's hand, especially when he's a cluless goon like Halsey.
