I hope I am entirely wrong re my initial assessment. Really good goal so well done for that. Looked like he had tidy feet during one piece of play in the corner near the end of the game. He doesnt seem fit but that can be improved upon but first impression he is not particularly mobile. He's not a leaper as he's a bit of a unit. All that said this was his first appearance and already he has made more of a contribution than our expensive USA born striker!! |

Points made about current crowds are well made. Having said that, attendances in the 1990's were really low in comparison and only started to recover once Sky coverage started. Going back further I think Arsenal only attracted 4,500 for a home match v Leeds in the mid 60's |

The game was played at the old Eastville Ground which used to host Speedway I think. Shocking weather, shocking game. I think the location of the old ground can be seen from the main road into Bristol now, |

I went to the 76 game with a mate courtesy of a couple of freebie stand tickets. Rather a poor turn out by Saints fans bearing in mind it was a midweek game after the semi final win v Palace. There was a few Saints fans in colours sat by us and were targeted by the Pompey mob moving up from the Fratton end towards the Saints fans on the open terracing at the other end. However it wasnt easy to get up into the stands so the main target were the Saints fans on the away terrace. |

I know quite a few people in this area who are Man Utd supporters and seem to share their season ticket with mates to make the cost more affordable. One of the many abiding memories I have from the 1976 Cup Final win, was seeing the coach brandishing a 'Southampton Man Utd Supporters' banner on its side, broken down on the side of the road with the passengers wandering around outside, having to witness all the euphoric Saints fans taking the piss as they drove triumphantly back to Hampshire. |

Started with The Beatles in early 1960's then moved onto Motown/Stax/Atlantic before progressing to what became known as 'Northern Soul' Haven't deviated from the music of that time and all the memories starting with nights at the 'Adam & Eve' Club opposite the Spa Tavern, then All Nighters in the Midlands & Northern England. |

Its a shame our dominance in the old Southern League never gets mentioned. Until the League format was extended to 4 Divisions in 1921 Saints had won the Southern League on several occasions and also reached 2 FA Cup Finals. Teams like Spurs were also in the Southern League at the time. |

I got a taxi to the Station a month or to back and the cab had a Bournemouth plate. The driver said that Radio taxis had taken over a Taxi Company in Bournemouth and he was up here getting used to the company's booking system. He also said that Southampton was a lot busier for Taxi drivers due to the cruise business and also two Universities. Wonder if Radio Taxis have expanded into Pompey? |

Like Nick I was born on Merseyside and could have followed either of the clubs as I was growing up and indeed used to enjoy watching Liverpool and Everton when we were up visiting family during the football season. However my Dad was a Saints fan and we lived in Milton Road when I was a kid. My Dad took me to a game at The Dell before I was at school and I enjoyed the experience until the Albion Band stopped playing pre KO and my Dad had to take me home!!!!!!! We then moved out to the east of Southampton but I was able to start watching Saints at Primary School age, with my Dad, despite the long bus journey to/from the game. With a gang of lads from school we then began to go to a lot of away games and even to the odd Reserve game at The Dell. Our school had quite a few Pompey fans so it was good that we had the upper hand from 1960. The SCUM Strike breaking accusation is nonsense and was never mentioned when I was at School as it was/is completely untrue. The only strike breaking was by Pompey Dockers in November 1976 and this can be verified by reports in the Portsmouth News & Daily Echo. Plenty of disappointment as a Saints fan but more than made up by the occasional high spots. Enjoying the current upsurge in form. Long may it continue. |

I thought Baz did OK and overall I dont think he is the weak link that many people he is. Understand that Ramsdale was a step up in quality but that what £20m+ buys you. Baz is quick on his feet and relatively agile but does suffer from his relative lack of height. That said it was interesting to note that Ryan Fraser was making the big defender in the penalty area who scored the second goal. |

Its the same with famous Rock & Pop stars. Recent research reckons that they die much earlier than the average for their age groups both in the USA and Europe. There is some suggestion it is all a Conspiracy. |

You must be enjoying being ahead of the RS in the table and having such a decent new ground to play at. I was up in Liverpool last week and had a wander around the outside of the Bramley Moore Stadium. Very impressive and apparently the acoustics are great. |

Pompey News were bigging up Pompey taking 1,300 to Sheffield Utd last night (that after a morale boosting home win v Millwall on Saturday) In comparison Saints sold out their 2,770 allocation at the same ground, again for an evening game, in the midst of a very poor run of results. |

Think a few players live in Winchester. Orio Romeu did before he left Shane Long lived in Nomansland just up the road from Les Mirabelle restaurant |
