Window pain — Column
at 10:35:34

One of your best articles Clive. And interesting that it seems to have sparked TF's interest. Seems like he's ready to jack it all in... which may well mean they're going to sell the club too?

I do understand that FFP is important but with that many out goings a judicious £500k needed to spent at the back. And a striker on loan (any chance we could get Tammy Abraham on loan?) otherwise, for me, it's a relegation squad.

QPR get familiar sinking feeling by the Trent — Report
at 09:51:16

Don't think 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 or whatever weren't meant to be playing does us any favours. Holloway used it at Millwall with a bunch of average players and it didn't work - same for us. I think you need a better class of player for the formation.

For me we looked a far better team offensively vs Sheff Utd when we switched to 4-3-3.

Goals for the rest of the season? Column

Really good column. Good read and lots of great points.

Still think we could do better than Holloway, did when we appointed him, do now.

And Sylla is our best striker.

Close but no cigar for QPR despite leading twice at Boro - Report
at 20:31:24

Ok poor was an over statement but they were average. If they play at that tempo and inventiveness all season they'll no way go up. Johnson and Assab...blabla they looked a very ordinary team. Gibson is impressive on the ball for a centre half.

And yeah - we did pretty well first half as a defensive unit. Can't fault the application throughout.

Bit we have to be so much better in possession. We have the ball away cheaply over and over again.

He goal. Honestly Northern - Freeman hasn't looked he way of Wheeler once. His whole body shape the way he swipes at the ball, he clearly intended to shoot. No way was that intentional pass.

Close but no cigar for QPR despite leading twice at Boro - Report
at 13:49:42

Nice report as always but saying Freeman laid the first goal 'on a plate' is pushing it a bit! It was not an intentional assist it was a mishit shot that luckily fell to Wheeler. No design, just good fortune. Have a look again.

I'm not out to be a 'hater' but the performance you saw was not what I saw. I though Boro were poor and barely got out of first gear and yet they scored three easily.

JFH's nine dilemmas (you won't believe number seven) — Preview

Ugh the bit about rugby is painful and stupid and typically self righteous. Apart from that, very interesting, as it always is.

Why did it all go so wrong (again)?
at 13:25:17

Melanie I don't know you and I've never seen you write anything before but this is really really excellent. Funny and well put, I enjoyed it.

Unlike the last two seasons - which have been miserable and frustrating in equal measure.

Mackie’s best efforts in vain as Villa game slips away — full match report
at 13:02:45

Clive I love your reports but I think this is far far far too negative on the basis of the last two performances under Redknapp. To say the performance was akin to what was served up under Hughes is grossly unfair.

There has been a massive improvement in work rate but more importantly, far more importantly, we are creating chances. The team has a system and a plan for creating. We should have won that game - SWP had two great chances, Park had a glorious chance. And their goal was a freak strike from outside the area not a pathetically soft set piece.

Losing Mbia and then Diakite really knocking the stuffing out of us and Park + Derry are not going to provide the same inspiration.

I actually think this 'home fortress' thing is going to have to wait because the nervousness of the crowd is getting to the players.

Despite the resutls not showing it some of or most positive performances have been away from home - Stoke, Man Utd, Sunderland, Spurs. I believe we will get the win we desperately need away from home.

We WILL beat Wigan.

We’ll Take Eleventh — Podcast

Ok so I sound like a nobber (again) but he didnt know the name for League Two he had no idea how old Diakite is, he thought there would be little difference in fitness between premier league players and L2 players... And that's just for starters. I want to be informed and intrigued by my host not listen to him be taught the most basic facts about football. Reminds of the no nothings who i sit near in block R.
Clive comments on Jay Bothroyd we're interesting - that's what I'd tune into a podcast to hear.

I suggest that David Fraser gets a small amount of basic knowledge about both football generally and QPR before he hosts a pod cast. How is he chairing that show?

Mind your shins, Diakite is back
at 16:27:10

Thirlled about this. Hughes' ability to bring in raw gems at good prices is one of the main reasons I backed his appointment well before he joined.

I do want to lay one thing to rest though. Dembele can only be considered 'unknown' if you don't have an interest in football outside of England. He was a well establihsed and well regarded Belgian international before he joined Fulham.

Samba and Nelson - now they really were unknown.

The ‘anti-footballer’ signs, calling time on Mahon
at 12:41:08

Couldn't agree more about Bailey - he has been outstanding for a while and will be a big payer for Boro next season. Good age too. Irritates me we aren't snapping these people up.
