I'm fairly sure we have only named 24 players in our squad. Thereby, keeping the option of adding a free agent or if not presumably Dembele could be added, if fit, before January. |

They only seem to have two games, both against Brazil. In Brisbane on the 25th and Townsville on the 28th. Hopefully, he will be back in plenty of time for the 9th October. |

I'd be content if he got a short ban from all football, say three to six months, provided that others above him at the club, as well as, senior coaching staff are also held to account.
I'd start with that happy smiling chairman who still seems to think the punishment was excessive. It wasn't. You were lucky it was only four points. |

The cheaters were beaten yesterday and spam same as us but with 11 men. We just have to battle hard and see where it takes us. |

If we hadn't conceded in the first minute and not got the red card, then Scarlett's contribution would have been viewed differently. He was good and Julien showed faith in him by not making him the first sub. He was subbed for greater experience and, a second tactical change, at HT due to the circumstances then.
Varane was actually playing quite well, mainly in an advanced midfield role before being subbed. He was actually passing successfully which many of his team mates weren't. I think it was a first tactical change, after the red card, to go 432 and narrow in midfield but with two forwards.
If Jimmy was unfit, as others have suggested, then surely JS would have subbed him with JCS at HT. He may not have been at his complete best but he is our captain, lasted the 90, and inspired his team mates by his effort.
The second tactical change moved us to more of a 423 or 4221 with Saito and Poku providing more width as we had to get hold of the game.
Bringing on Smyth as an attacking RB was an inspired substitution by the manager. |

Not sure how you form that opinion when Morgan has only really been there for two games and he is an unused sub, for a team that has been doing well since the start of the season, 3rd in the table. |

Brilliant post Nix.
There is no single answer to this problem, it's a combination of the many factors that have been mentioned.
Fixture scheduling, previously injured or unfit players, modern pitches, training and rehab programmes etc may all play a part.
Club may be partly at fault, and Ben Williams record here and elsewhere, away from cycling, isn't good but rotation was an effort to improve the situation. It may have helped to some degree. |

Agree with the first part, only. What other possible sanction could have been applied that was fair to Middlesbrough. Saints (mmm.) cheated in a knockout competition. The only punishment must be expulsion.
As for the manager, he is said to have admitted his guilt so that may soften the sanction. I would guess at a ninety day ban and a maximum fine. |

Early days, Bradford just a point behind the leaders in league one.
He signed on the 31st August, wasn't included in the squad on the 1st September and has been unused on the bench in their only two league fixtures since. He played 83 minutes in the League Cup 3rd round win.
City seem to have a settled midfield of five, three defensive and two attacking. Three of these are 28 or older. He's the youngest of the nine midfielders in their squad.
A couple of defeats, injuries or a decision to rotate and he should get his chance. |

EDB very rarely impacted any game he played in and I believe even his loans were unsuccessful. Like Masterson developed to a certain level at Liverpool but couldn't improve on it here.
CM, in theory, has just moved up a level to the fakes and since joining has only featured for 8 minutes in League 1 and 90 minutes EFL cup where they lost 3-0 to Stevenage. EDB is without a club. |

Staying 'up north' Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights sounds like a positive idea.
However, players have lives and several have families. They accept being away from home a certain number of times but it may 'p*ss them off', if you increase that by say 12 or more days a season. Do that and you risk squad unity and performance. The Thursday would probably be a rest day anyway. They may get bored kicking their heels around the hotel and may be tempted to breach club rules or discipline. We don't know but there may even be something in their contracts that limits hotel stops. It's not just the players, it's the staff too, all that are involved in day to day first team training.
Then there's the additional cost as well. The club paying for three nights for up to thirty people, maybe more, and the hire of an additional training ground. Some of this additional expense may also have an effect on FFP. |
