 | Forum Reply | So ..... team for Saturday ? at 09:18 27 Feb 2026
He seems to have stopped trying too hard to impress in the recent games, and looked more like the player we watched and were impressed by last year. Seeing Kolli listed here and not discussed post Southampton. He wasn't awful in a first half we controlled from the 15th min til Madson's injury around the 40th min. My gut is he was feeling something, or injured, so was pulled off. Might not see him tomorrow... |

Does anybody know how the Youth/B teams are getting on injury wise? Wondering if there is anything in a previous discussion around the pitches at the training ground? I have no knowledge of what they're made of, but others seemed to think they were ITK, claiming that Newcastle ripped up the very same new pitches, due to ongoing soft tissue injuries. |
 | Forum Reply | 3 at the back with wing backs Saturday? at 17:51 26 Feb 2026
We have looked better with 3 at the back for many years now. warburton saved his job post Cardiff at Xmas by switching to a 3 for the Norwich away game, which we should have won in their promotion season. That Warburton team never looked back for almost a calendar year with the loans in Jan helping. Aug- early Dec we were sublime to watch. BUT, yes all day long if you want to play football through the lines vs pumping it in the channels as we mostly do now |

everybody moaned when he was changing it up for the midweek games earlier in the season, when we had decent players on the bench. "you need to stick with a winning team" was everywhere. The bench is bare now and people want it the other way. Thankfully, Morgan has looked OK in recent games including the other night (bar one stupid forced pass). If he can concentrate and not play the exciting (but ultimately not on) pass every time, then we might be OK. Just needs to not force it at times, but great to have a player thinking about getting it forward every time he gets the ball. Varane couldn't/can't be risked for 90, but should be there shortly. We shouldn't be exposing Bennie to starting matches. Great strike and plenty of effort, but I'll leave it there, he's a young lad. Vale features in the match for a few minutes, then disappears. Lovely left foot, but no engine and lacks concentration defensively. He was in the mix for 2 goals the other night by being the wrong side of play when his man had gone. Actually, was only edging forward, but he either ignored it, or missed it. He can only be played offensively. |

Didn’t work for Mbengue for their 4th |

Granted. He’s looked knackered since his 2nd game, but injuries haven’t given many of them a chance to rest. The 3 weeks he was injured isn’t a rest, as he’s not training - but he still shows more energy than others, even if we would prefer to see it more offensively. Smyth must be carrying a knock, as he should be stepping in, and certainly before Bennie. |

Kolli should be here for me, but used more. Morgan should have gone out for the experience and at the right club could flourish. Bennie wouldn't get minutes. Simple as. There are lots of on paper good Prem kids, especially in attacking positions, in League 1 & 2, and the national league for that matter not getting minutes. Not sure how you sell a loan deal to a club when your answer to where does play is "wherever you want him to". OK, what's he good at? ........running around. That's not harsh, it's the truth. He clearly trains well, works hard on the pitch (he does do that) and is a good lad, but I'm at a loss how he's starting games in the Championship at this point in his development. Might be better going back to Oz on loan, as he seemed to shine down there. He wouldn't get games in L1 & 2. |

Kolli can play wide and we all know it. If we’d lost 1-0 yesterday because of that lapse of concentration most of you would be carving him up for lunch, as you do when we lose and are looking for a scape goat. I prefer not to do that, but personally wouldn’t have him in the firing line in the first place. Bar the lapse yesterday he did nothing wrong, my issue is you have to think long and hard to remember what he did right every time he plays. Broke well for the shot, but I don’t know how to fill the other hour |

Ok, here’s another. Look at Wrexhams equaliser. Bennie and either Field/RND follow the same man to the far end of our 6yd box 12 yds from where the ball actually landed on Walsh’s fist. The player they left free scored the goal. He couldn’t believe his luck. I’m not here to slag him, I actually thought he did alright with the shot across goal, poor angle etc. but I don’t think he is good enough to pull the shirt on yet. He obviously trains well etc, but I still don’t know what he is, apart from trying to make himself busy. It’s criminal that he gets to be on there instead of Kolli, who also works hard. He’d have got us up the pitch more and stretched them later in the game |

He wasn’t at fault for any, but some love a witch hunt... My biggest gripe is why is a player unmarked 12 yds out in the middle of the goal when we had 2 more players in the box.. Third was just sitting too deep Dunne should do much better for the first, but he had a great game bar that For every Birmingham there’s a …. |

Unfairly lambasted. He’s a good keeper and prior to this season only did good. Distribution wasn’t great at times, but he was playing in front of a baying crowd post Coventry and other early games where he wasn’t at fault for any goals. Certainly nothing at Cov. |
 | Forum Reply | Sell Jon Varane ? at 11:04 10 Jan 2026
100%. What you hear in stands vs here is completely different. He gets a song in the stands and pelters on here. Kolligate when on and on. Wrong’n turned into not good enough and should be shipped out on loan. Ridiculous on both accounts. He warms up in his first return at Loftus Rd and everybody was on their feet. Comes on to rapturous applause and he’s one of our own. But as ever, like what’s happening with Varane, the brainless sheep on here join the chant. Varane is the only player that oppo fans I speak to say good things about. Yes, you could point the finger at the odd cocky brain fart in dangerous areas, and yes he often looked for the perfect ball when it’s not really on, but Stephan has largely removed that from his game and now he’s blasted for playing too safe. He is the best tackling midfielder we have and strong on the ball. Similar to Hayden, but far more athletic. I’m not gonna talk down any of our players, but bar Hayden (and now Conan the Barbarian if required) he’s streets ahead of any other competition for that spot in our squad. I think they’ll cash in, but I’ll be sad to see him go. If it wasn’t for the Conan signing I’d call it suicidal, given Hayden’s injury record when he plays week in. |
