Could/Should Matos throw a spanner into Lampard's plans and deploy a disciplined lineup to "park the bus", and go for 1 point? Maybe a 4-5-1 lineup of Viggie, Galbraith, Cabango, Burgess, Tymon, Stamenic, Franco, Cullen, Ronald, Yalcouye, & Vip? Or possibly Fulton for Yalcouye? Yalcouye & Cullen could be the designated chasers. |

Just reported by Keith/Swansea Independent, BBC, and others that McLean admitted to the egregious foul, and thus received a 3-match ban instead of denying it and receiving a 6-match ban since there was sufficient video evidence of his foul. |
 | Forum Reply | IN DEPTH Ryan Maye - Twenty five years in coaching now he’s Swansea assistant at 15:46 22 Dec 2025
What a FABULOUS and great, in-depth article!! Your best yet! Question: How on earth does a club the size of Swansea can attract such a person like Maye to be a part of its organization!? This is a real coup! Maye's road to where he is today is really fascinating. When you think about it, he's been hired to "affect" in the psychological sense, both players and coaches. Since I'm from the USA, and wasn't familiar with the acronym PGSE, I looked up what it stood for: A PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) is a popular UK qualification for graduates wanting to become teachers, combining academic study of education with practical school placements, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for teaching in state schools or a qualification for the post-compulsory sector (colleges, adult ed). It's a one-year, intensive course for graduates, focusing on teaching theory, classroom management, and subject-specific pedagogy. Not being familiar with the word, pedagogy, I looked it up found this that even Perch can understand: In simple terms, pedagogy is the art, science, and practice of teaching—it's how educators choose to help people learn, involving their beliefs about learning, the methods they use (lectures, projects, discussions), and how they adapt to different students and subjects to achieve educational goals. It's the entire strategy behind teaching, from understanding the learner to choosing the best tools and activities to foster understanding, skills, and growth. |

After looking at the X replay in slow motion, it appears McLean kicks Ronald twice in the head, first with his right foot, and then the more obvious one, a softer, left-footed swipe. We've all seen on many occasions where refs will issue cards for this behavior, some even red cards. I hope no one on this chat board condones any retaliatory acts of violence, whether it's aimed at athletes or politicians. There's already enough craziness in this world. Life is already too short for the consequences that result from that kind of sick thinking and actions. Merry Christmas! |

I agree with going for the win. I saw that Jay Dasilva picked up a red card in this morning's game with Southampton. |
 | Forum Reply | Swans reflection : Is this the way for Vitor ? at 20:12 14 Dec 2025
I agree re: "Excellent, hard-hitting article"! There are some on this forum who pontificate profusely about certain players, who shouldn't be played, and even who shouldn't be kept on the roster. If this one poster is so certain about his views, then he should personally reach out to Vitor and ask for a role as a consultant because he thinks of himself that highly. The only problem is that he's many, many hours away from the training ground, and doesn't attend any of the games. Yes, Key has lost his way...for the moment, and for awhile now. But he's still a Swan and we should show him some support, or be silent...not hate. I'm sure Key realizes that he's not playing up to his standards, and to what we as fans, and his coaches, expect him to be. But if he's a true professional, he'll work doubly hard to regain his focus and form. If he can't then he'll be sold or let go. |

Yes, I agree with your last comment about Casey regarding the "odd youthful mistake". These, as infrequent they are, have led to an opposition goal. If Casey could significantly reduce these "youthful mistakes", then he would be not only a starter for Swans but probably for WHAM! He is a talented youngster waiting for his chance to become a star. I sure hope Swans can keep his for the 2nd half of the season. |
 | Forum Reply | Captain choice from the stands? at 14:59 3 Dec 2025
I respectfully disagree. Matos still has time and the authority to name a new captain. For me it has to be Stamenic. Matos needs to make the change now, or as you've stated, he will have "missed the boat" if not done very soon. In Stamenic, Matos should have a private chat and point out why MS is his man to lead the team. Hopefully, having the head coach's confidence will give MS the inspiration to play a much more aggressive role and help shore up the team's defensive struggles. |

No, not bad and pretty good. But, compared to what? The problem is that when you compare the two 37-yr old managers, Hellberg's most recent experiences & records are at the top-level of the Swedish pyramid; whereas, Matos only has a 6-2-3 record as a manager in the 2nd division in Portugal. That's a BIG roll of the dice, imo! |

I'm not a betting man but can you bet against the bookies' odds that he won't be the manager? |

Really makes you wonder how widespread gambling is by players, coaches, and referees in soccer, and quite frankly, all major sports. Here in the U.S. the FBI has uncovered gambling by NBA & Major League Baseball players. One player, according to the federal indictment, was Terry Rozier, who was playing for the NBA Charlotte Hornets. Rozier allegedly tipped off a friend that he planned to exit a game early (due to a supposed injury) on March 23, 2023, so that the friend and associates could place wagers on his statistical “unders” (i.e., bets that his performance would fall below the expected totals). I understand that after the game Rozier went to a hotel room where he and his associates collected a bag full of cash amounting to $200,000.00. In Cleveland, a pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians, also bet on himself. Emmanuel Clase, a relief pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians, was indicted on federal charges related to a gambling scheme, according to reports by Reuters & ESPN.com. Details of the indictment stated that in May 2023, Clase agreed with bettors to throw specific pitches (type/speed/outcome) and then those bettors placed prop-bets (bets on individual pitch outcomes) using that inside information. One example was cited to be in a game under his control in which he threw a ball on the first pitch of an at-bat (intentionally outside the strike zone) so the bettor could win a bet on that outcome. The alleged scheme resulted in at least $400,000+ in winnings for the bettors. It just makes you wonder how widespread this is. Gambling commercials on TV and Internet are so commonplace these days. |

I know earlier reports indicated certain personal concerns that could sway his thinking, but still, money talks! |

This is my opinion (and I take responsibility for my views!): Sheehan still hasn't figured out what his best team is. Three CBs and two wingbacks? I really like Casey starting, even at the expense of one of the two lumbering giants, if you go with 4 in the back. With Tymon out v. Bristol due to too many yellow cards, then it looks like Ishe may get the start at LB. Who to play in midfield? Besides Galbraith, who does he trust, really trust? Stamenic, Franco, Widell, Eom, Yalcouye, on occasion have played well. But it's a guessing game on who's going to show up. A couple of the old guard in Cullen & Fulton? Some of these could play out wide along with Ronald, Inoussa, Benson, possibly Wales. Vip will probably get the nod if he doesn't get hurt playing for Slovenia. It seems management really wants Idah to play at the expense of Vip sometimes, trying to get him up to speed. Maybe because of other clubs' possible interest in Vip for a possible sale in Jan? A lot of these players are very young, and youthful, exuberant players will make mistakes. But it's the mistakes made recently by the veteran players like Burgess & Key, that's more concerning. I like Sheehan, like others on this board, and I think the players really like him as well. But that sometimes is the problem in that maybe he's trying to keep everyone happy. |

Yes, a Jan window sale is too soon for either Ethan's or the club's benefit. If Swans were to get promoted and he's one of the players that clearly makes this happen, then I hope management re-works his contract to keep him for our journey to the next level. But that's wishful thinking at the moment but I still think we have the players to move into the top 6. |

Next summer, please! IMO, I think it would be foolish to sell him in the Jan window, especially if we're within spitting distance from a playoff berth. He'll command as much if not more after the season is over if he continues to play well. Isn't he under contract until summer of 2028? |

Idah seems to be just waiting for his chance and not helping all that much defensively. Not very active. Our other forwards chase the ball a lot better. I'd rather see him be more active. |
