I think that’s terram, but I could be wrong. It’s usually used to prevent weeds interfering, so not sure it would have the required impact for what you say. I could be a mile off with that, but it would make sense around the pipes to stop vegetation intruding… |

I wouldn't say it hasn't been looked after properly as you'd imagine the aggregate under the pitch would need to allow water to run through, like a pea gravel, or an aggregate all similar sized, so that it doesn't compact. If you imagine an MOT subbase that is used for prep for a concrete base in say and extension or conservatory, this aggregate is made up of various sizes so they all fit within each other and will comapact to make it solid. whereas, a pea gravel type aggregate all of similar size, can't compact thus allowing water to run through. Once that aggregate is in, and if it isn't suitable, there would be very little a groundsman could do to ensure water reaches the drains, apart from the verti draining that pierces right through the aggregate to the drains, but you can imagine how hard that would be to guarantee success. Now we have this company on board, who it seems know what they are doing, who will ensure an appropriate aggregate is used to allow that water to flow through to the drains. They have told us already the issue and how much the water flowed through previously and what they are hoping to achieve now. The fact that they are adding more drainage to the already existing drainage, which didn't seem to be a problem, can only be a good thing. I would imagine there is a life span given due to the gaps between the aggregate filling up over time, stopping water flowing through. This is what has probably happened now, but we didn't have the start we are hoping for this time, hence why it hasn't lasted as long as this pitch is predicted to. I do recall, I think, that when our pitch was done a few years back it had a tendency to drain too quickly, so it probably served it's purpose for a short while. Let's hope this one lasts as predicted. |

It’s a good question. I always used to answer Dale, hands down, but I’m not too sure anymore. As we have tasted promotion now but haven’t the World Cup, in my lifetime, I think I’m slightly favouring winning the World Cup. |

You’d think it wouldn’t need to be cut if they are at the length of the grass after it’s cut, which I believe is around 28mm… |

He definitely deserves more credit than what he gets. To be sat at the top of a league where there are more teams on 2+ points per game than the whole of the 92 in the football league put together, is in it self a superb achievement, and we have 2 games in hand. And the football, for the majority of the time, has been excellent. Well done Jim, keep up the good work. Roll on Saturday. |

I doubt it would need to be cut down to 28mm, and it’d be unlikely they’d mark it out. There’s a couple of things for starters, I’d imagine. |

Hopefully that will lead to a postponement tomorrow. Dome up on Wednesday, game on on Saturday… |

I agree with what you say, and I don’t think it couldn’t or shouldn’t be done, I just doubt very much that this weekends game will be changed at such short notice. Let’s hope tomorrow is off to give Saturday a chance of going ahead. [Post edited 24 Nov 20:50]

Can you compare to our requirements now though? When it’s not just a pitch, it the drainage system that’s the issue too, which will surely add a significant amount of time on previous pitch renewal durations. |

Can somebody at the club please contact these and get one sorted, before our season is ruined…. https://covair.co.uk/ If I can find out this info you’d hope the powers that be will already be on it. That, or buying some duct tape to stick sheets of useless tarpaulin together! Edit: not sure the link I posted there is for temporary use, this one could be worth trying… https://www.skyairdome.com/foo There’s a few out there, there must be a solution for us… [Post edited 11 Nov 18:38]

Would that be those same pitch covers that have proven themselves to be not fit for purpose? |

Resting players next weekend will mean those rested won’t have played for 2 week. With no midweek games for a while, I’m not sure that rest would be beneficial or necessary. |

Surely it only takes an hour or so to remove water from covers and then remove covers, maybe the club should look at leaving covers on a bit longer than 1pm….? |
