Bit of a sweeping statement that
From what ive seen if my friends kids, not a parent myself, is that they are a lot more sensible than we were
Some of the mad shit we used to do in the 90’s would probably shock them |

Not sure whats happening with working mens clubs either
I used to play football for a local one, attendances dwindled mainly due to the children who’d been taken there by the parents didn’t want to do the same thing as their parents as they got older even if it was much cheaper for a pint
For the one i was a member of the final nail was the smoking ban, most of the people i knew quickly got fed up with having to go outside to have a fag, they’d rather stay at home and invite their pals round instead
Got knocked down and 4 houses were built on the site
Shame really as when i joined it would be packed at the weekend but habits change |

You’re right about the culture changing
Went to the gym on a Friday night after work and expected it to be empty, absolutely full of teens and 20 somethings. When I was their age I was straight in the boozer at that time on a Friday. A mate of mines kids aren’t that bothered about going to the pub and would rather save their money and socialise elsewhere
Quite lucky where I live, there’s a pub in the next village which is always busy and the landlord has made it the hub of the community. We also have a really nice country pub in the middle of nowhere, dunno how it stays open but it’s owned by Fullers and the locals support it well |

Other memories from going to Northlands Road
The long drive down from Woking would be soundtracked by a cassette of John Arlott reminiscing about his life watching Hampshire, some brilliant stories about Lionel Tennyson
Saw a very young Steve Waugh score a chanceless century for Somerset, pretty sure it was before he was plying international cricket
Also went to a Sunday league game in the late 80's when Richard Scott went absolutely mental and hit about 12 sixes in a century, he took out at least 2 of the hanging baskets in the pavilion. Never seen an innings like it before or since, absolutely brutal |

I got way too bent out of shape after the shenanigans in May
Had to remind myself that what I want to happen and reality are two very different things
If me getting stressed or angry about Saints actually achieved anything we be multiple FA Cup winners and league champions
I’m expecting a lengthy ban, anything less would be something we can hopefully manage
Also far too busy work wise right now to think about football |

Not relevant to this case imo
There were no rules in place when Bielsa was caught, hence the ones we’ve broken being brought in
What concerns me more is if the FA see clear evidence of bullying from TE to Will Salt, if so I would expect him to get a lengthy ban |

As I see it the only thing that’s potentially wrong is the amount of time it’s taken for this to finally be decided
Seems a bit daft to let him manage the first 8 league games and then ban him
But as I’ve already said, it was our choice to stick by him so will have to live with the potential consequences of that |

The league goal was against Arsenal, it hit him on the back and I doubt he knew much about it, ran away celebrating like he’d absolutely nailed one from 30 yards out
He also was involved in Sol Campbell getting a red card in that match, he was “bearing down” on the goal and Campbell fouled him. It was right in front of me in The Chapel and the reality of it was he looked like he was wading through treacle and hoping that he would get fouled
I remember watching a game in the 2006 World Cup when he was playing for Ecuador, he actually looked very good in that game. He was never fit in his time with us and I don’t think Strachan really wanted him as he’d signed just before GS took over as manager |

Cost 20 million and apart from an assist for Gabbiadinis last minute equaliser at Burnley, I can’t think of anything else he did
Special mentions for Kerry Dixon who was past it and Paul Moody who was a cheap gamble but just wasn’t good enough |

Whilst I don't claim to be the biggest Echo And The Bunnymen fan, I do own one of their records, 2005's excellent Siberia, so when I saw their 13th lp and first for 12 years was being released, I was really interested to hear it
Before listening and doing a little bit of research I read that Clem Burke (of Blondie) played drums on most of the tracks and Will Sergeant played very little part in the recording of this lp which came as rather a surprise to me
After listening a few times ,the opening track Take Me By The Hand and especially Brussels Is Haunted sounded like what you'd expect for a Bunnymen record, what surprised me more was the reflective mood of the lyrics on tracks like An Unstoppable Force and the closing ...We Prayed In The Dark.
What I didn't expect was to hear a jaunty parping saxophone on Lab Rats Run, probably the poorest track on this 11 track lp which clocks in at 37 minutes overall
In summary, like The Fall, you know what you're getting with a Bunnymen lp. Lab Rats Run aside, it's a really good record. Plenty to like for long term fans and more casual listeners like myself and it's really great that a band, whatever version this is now, this far into their career are still making new music when they could easily fall into the greatest hits circuit and tarnish their legacy, yes I'm looking at you Shaun Ryder.
To answer the question How d'ya like them apples?

Saints decided to stick with Tonda, their choice
I would imagine that would be how the FA view it and the charge being brought is against him and him alone, so to them it’s irrelevant what punishment the club have received as that was from the EFL
Not saying I like it but I would imagine that’s how it will be viewed
Those on the ruling panel will look at the facts of the case, judge on those and I doubt will even take into account what’s happened to the club |

Whenever I see Phil Parsons has done an interview I think “oh no, what’s he said now”
I’d rather he hadn’t done an interview and I don’t think this will help in any way
Firstly the club has already been punished, what TE will potentially receive is nothing to do with that, it’s a charge against him as an individual, so for Parsons to go on about the club already being punished enough is irrelevant. Secondly we haven’t missed out on promotion, we would have had to have played Hull and they could have beaten us, they already had twice that season
Preparing myself for TE getting a significant ban, at least there will finally be some clarity, quite why it’s taken this long to reach a verdict is baffling |

That reminds me of when I went to see Young Fathers a few years back
A brilliant band and the gig I saw them play at Hammersmith Odeon is one of the best I've ever been to, me and my wife were literally speechless when we got out, they were so good
Towards the end of the show they started a chant of "F*ck The Tories" I had to laugh as I heard a couple of young poshos in front of us shout "Yah f*ck the tories" the irony of it all seemed rather lost on them as they toddled off in their mustard chords |

Not a fan of theirs, watched their “infamous” Glastonbury set to see what all the fuss was about and was left distinctly unimpressed
Going back, were there protests when Wings played at The Gaumont in 1975? Seeing as 3 years before they’d recorded a song called Give Ireland Back To The Irish
I’m not a fan of political posturing at gigs, stopped going to see Steve Mason as he’d turned into a pound shop Roger Waters and going off on long rants in between songs, but I’m also not keen on banning things even if I don’t agree with them |

I'm part of the problem I suppose, only been to the Rose Bowl once so nowadays I'm a follower rather than supporter
As I've said before I thought it was a mistake when they stopped playing at Basingstoke, used to go to at least one day of the county game or the Sunday game, it was always really well attended.
One year we saw them play Durham, after tea me and my dad literally sat on a park bench under an oak tree and watched Shane Warne bowl an utterly mesmerising spell until stumps, all sounds a bit Enid Blyton but we didn't have lashings of ginger beer and a super tea, but we saw one of the worlds greatest bowlers on a club ground, absolutely magic |
