One of those rare refs where we’ve won as many as we’ve lost. No draws, all very symmetric. Sheff wed LW Ipswich L, so we should win that next one Swansea W Gulp. |

One day I think football will realise that effectively banning the slide tackle has led to so many knee and muscle injuries. Madsen got caught late in a standing tackle v Derby, Mbengue similar a few weeks earlier when approaching tackle from behind, was jumping about holding his knee after and the way his leg went I was amazed he managed to carry on then. Slide tackles, neither of these would have occurred. Are there any physios/doctors in football actually looking at this? |

Well he seems to have his best games when we’re in the ascendancy, his worst games when we’re up against it. It was a generalisation but by and large home games mean ascendancy and away games you’re up against it. If we could find his best position that might help. |

Had a lot of time for him when he arrived. As mentioned above, I doubt if you asked him his best position whether he’d even really know himself. Madsen Edwards Kamara when we play three across centre mid looks good, suggesting he’d be a sub in that set up. At home, if we play two CDM, then he’s been okay on the right (suspect his goals/assists count is way better than Poku, for instance) but away from home, he isn’t so efficient. Sub away, starter at home for now. He’s a good player but needs to show a bit more metal now, it’s the Championship, not carpet football at Chelsea. |

Nice report. Missed this game completely and haven’t fancied watching the goals back, but intrigued to read we played two in CM. This is the issue I have with JS. On the rare occasions we play three CDM we look good, very good. We are compact, it adds protection to the full backs, it lets the wingers think predominantly as forwards, it just bloody works. Quite why he wants to change that, against the kind of pace and power team that we’ve struggled big time against, season after season, is unfathomable. That said, was expecting a hiding somewhere this month, but if we’re going to move on, JS needs to settle on a formation that works or it will unravel again like last season. |

Yeah, we’re very reliant on team work which is fine but it doesn’t half make a difference, when you’re up against it, if you’ve got a poacher who can nick a goal out of nowhere. That’s something we don’t have. Missed the game all round yesterday, did we set up as a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 ? I’m thinking Harvey Vale here, as much as anything. |

We cannot seem to beat top 5 sides. Worrying thing is after only eleven games, Norwich aside, you could predict these as the teams who’d finish ahead of us. Stoke recruited well this time round. Need a top notch performance next Saturday. |
 | Forum Reply | Rampant Rangers rout wretched Rams (again) – Report at 08:50 16 Oct 2026
I’ve seen this before. There’s something about being a QPR supporter, essentially schooled in adversity, we’re quite unsure how to handle comprehensive wins with a superior side. One down, 2-1 win, that we can thrive on. It’s just the bit, those rare times, when we step on the pitch with a side good enough that we expect to win and not only that, they go out and show they’re good enough to do it. I’ve noticed, when the roofs about to fall in, the crowds go up. Was in a box many years ago, we were in Division 1 or the Premier League, I can’t remember, and at the end we got to go on the pitch and have a shot or two at the away end. We used to win games for fun at that time. Yet I remember, as I looked up above the goal, the scoreboard said ‘crowd today, ten thousand and something, thank you for your attendance’. That’s something that’s always stuck with me, like it’s defined where we really wanted to be, as if we weren’t entirely comfortable with raging success. If this all goes pear shaped, the club don’t need to worry, we’ll be there. If we are to become successful, bare with us, we’ll all get there eventually. |

On target for 78 points, 70 will get us top eight. They’ll be a nasty defeat somewhere, probably quite soon, it’s imperative these players set it aside when it happens. If we keep doing the stuff we’re doing will get that 70 points, if we get a spark up front anything could happen. |
 | Forum Reply | Glen Kamara at 07:46 16 Oct 2026
Previous seasons I’d describe us trying to keep possession like a game of pinball, frenetic. This fella has changed all that. |
 | Forum Reply | Alfie Lloyd - Well Done at 18:47 15 Oct 2026
Think perhaps that playing three across the middle means your defenders can spend more time defending and your attackers attacking. That big hole between full back and winger doesn’t seem such a big hole anymore. Noticed midfielders are now doubling up with the full back too. It just makes us look more compact. |
 | Forum Reply | Alfie Lloyd - Well Done at 17:39 15 Oct 2026
I’ve adapted the Harold Lloyd signature tune for Alfie and been singing it along to myself watching replays of last nights highlights. It really works for his ‘assist’ to Harvey Vales goal, especially the close up of his control, loss of control, and subsequent unintended tripping up of his opponent. He is a joy to watch. Lovely clinical finish for his goal too. Alf-fie Lloyyd, da da da da, dada da dah. |

Indeed. Three across the middle does change the widemen thought process, it means they can concentrate on attacking whilst the defensive side, still needed, but not to the detriment of their forward play. Madsen/Kamara+one other transforms this team. |
 | Forum Reply | Charles's gambit at 09:04 15 Oct 2026
It was hilarious. Teams are genuinely frightened to approach him as it’ll leave one man free and they know he’ll find them. Never seen anything quite like this fella. |
 | Forum Reply | Derby Reflection at 09:01 15 Oct 2026
Funny you say that, we were saying he’ll have to make substitutions around the hour as per the norm in modern day football, but was thinking it’s a shame we need to because the starting eleven performed as a complete unit, much like at West Ham. It’s good to see, used to be like that in the 70’s side, total trust in what was going on out there. These days unfortunately, it’s not about having one John Delve on the bench, you need to have five of the buggers! |
 | Forum Reply | Smyth at 08:52 15 Oct 2026
Rather than looking for a foul he’s now concentrating on running at teams and getting properly fouled. Gets kicked all over the place anyway, might as well it happens in the penalty box now rather than the half way line. Bit of a Micky Leach in some ways. Any faults become exaggerated in a poor side, in a good side you see his qualities. |
 | Forum Reply | The next three matches at 08:33 15 Oct 2026
Thought 5 points from the 5 October games, anything above that will be a result. Birmingham and Saints very tough away games, Swansea seem to come alive in short bursts and their wings to forward play is top quality. Keep going Rangers. |
 | Forum Reply | K&L at 07:58 15 Oct 2026
Both did a job well. I might need to have a rethink about what’s going on, but once again, despite scoring four goals, I’m struggling to remember the widemen getting a single pass in a goalscoring position to the CF, that’s despite Smyth having another excellent game. A brilliant pass from Edwards undoubtedly, but would it have worked with any of our CF’s. Poku made the kind of run I’ve been crying out for him to do but never does, it was a shame it went wide, but his run and control was exactly what a CF should be looking to do and they don’t. On the other hand, that Poku cross, when completely free, three Rangers running in against three Derby, straight into the keepers hands must have the forwards wondering why bother. Something we need to sort out, even after a 4-1 thrashing. |

Good professional performance throughout, which is what’s needed against niggly bastards like that lot, left their foot in late on so many tackles. Am concerned about this pitch, Mbengue another one to fall victim. Know it can happen to anyone but it happens a lot here, particularly since the relaying of it. |
