As of this week we’re without Madsen, Burrell and Lamptey until after the November international break, Mbengue is out for the season with an ACL, and Chair is still sidelined. That’s on top of various others managing issues, and it feels very familiar from the last couple of seasons. Rather than another general moan thread, interested in what people think is the main driver.
What’s the main reason for QPR’s recurring injury crisis?
It’s depressing to see another season start to go to waste for the same reasons. This has been a recurring pattern for several years now. Ben Williams gets credit for the strong availability in 2023-24. Everything since (the remote 2024-25 period when in Dubai and working with Brooklyn Nets and the full time return since last summer) has not delivered anything close. The current list — Mbengue season ACL, Madsen/Burrell/Lamptey out until after November, Chair still out, others managing — is the same cycle again. These are not all soft tissue overtraining cases. Risk decisions, recovery pathways and recruitment profiles need independent review with published days lost data versus the league. Internal reassurance from Christian Nourry has not improved the results. I believe a proper review is long overdue.
If we don’t sort this out, our standards are clearly not high enough. We risk losing a decent manager in Julien Stéphan if he can never consistently play his best team, and we risk losing standout players like Ronnie Edwards who has shown real drive and quality this season.
Good win and exactly what we need to be doing at home.
Less impressive second half.
We have a strong base of the team which is helping us enormously with higher standards now.
Kemper was excellent. Edwards is playing so well each game. Smyth has improved so much since Julien became manager. Kamara is doing a lot of good work in our midfield which may go unnoticed too.
Always a worry about these ongoing injuries we get. I hope Mbengue is ok but it did not look good.
No idea where the referee got so much additional time in both halves. That really deserved to be a clean sheet.
I rate Kolli highly and think he’s our best finisher, so I get why he shot rather than passed. Hindsight is easy though — Kamara’s made those runs a few times this season and not received the ball when he’d have been through on goal.
Kolli looked better than Kone when he came on. Kone still doesn’t look the same player he was when he arrived, hopefully he finds form again.
Would like to see Kolli start against Derby midweek and bang in a couple.
Third season running that injuries are holding us back from what this squad should be capable of.
Yes, the calendar is a mess and 24 team leagues + international breaks don’t help, but the same problems keep happening under different managers. Whatever we’re doing with recruitment, conditioning or medical isn’t fixing it.
Superb performance 6 nil up after 70 minutes Nearly 5am here in Aus and this is one of the best performances I have seen from England for a bloody long time even to say in my lifetime. Gordon has lifted massively since going to Spain. Bellingham is all class. Imagine how good England would be with Pierce Charles in goal Regardless super impressed Well done England
1. Melbourne Victory — been here since the late 90s, followed them from when they formed in 2004. Biggest club in the country. Even though the sport is run poorly. Tony Bloom (Brighton) owns 19.1%. Juan Mata — who refused to take a corner at the Loft end for Chelsea back in October 2011 — has finished as a player at Victory and is now a shareholder. He was the A League player of the season last season. 2. Geelong — AFL, because they wear the superhoops. More successful than QPR. Still not my sport. 3. Central Coast Mariners — on the list now Ruben / TSG own them. Sensible if CCM and QPR work together. 4. Goulburn Valley Suns — local side. Just won Victorian Premier League 2 and will now play in the Victorian Premier League 1. The highest level after the A League. 5. Anyone playing Chelsea

The own goal was a bit fortunate, but it came from some really good approach play from Vale, Poku and Burrell. That’s the sort of movement we need more of.
Frustrating to concede a couple of minutes later. Quality finish from them, no argument, but we have to get out to the man earlier and block those efforts. Can’t afford to give them that much time and space.
Smyth looks to have picked up an injury, which is a blow with the list already looking thin.
The travelling support have been loud and proud as always.
