Portsmouth v Swansea City : Match Thread
at 00:29 4 Nov 2026

Disappointing first half, but worked hard then in the second half to get it back to 1-1. Then a perfectly weighted pass from Just allowed Stewart the chance to make it 2-1 on 89mins which he misses. Their second goal was a neat finish after a good first touch when the ball fell luckily to him.

Overall we didn’t look like a promotion chasing team tonight. Too many individuals not at or near their best. Again. Onto the next game. It’s football and it’s the Championship. Our reasonable goal is a play off place. Our unpredictable form is a concern though. As are the last two away results.

Keep calm chaps, it’s only 1-0 with 45 minutes to go.

The usual over reaction but we need to improve this half. And probably will. An opportunity for Just to show what he’s capable of.

Only been there once when we beat them in the FA Cup. They won it the season before that.

Nathan Dyer got a nice goal for us.

It’s not an easy place to play. Crowd close to the pitch. A point with a good performance will do nicely thank you very much. If we can counter quickly we can get at them.

Excellent win. Well done boys that was a huge statement.

Most importantly I hope that Onehunglow managed to get his dodgy box to work

Swans defender Stephen Welsh : Is exhaustion playing a part ?
at 18:03 28 Oct 2026

He’s in his mid 20s. Barely played a 100 career league games.

Slightly off the boil? Exhaustion ?

Only he will know. He may be a bit tired. If that’s the case then god help him and us. Adrenaline can get them through games. I’m not buying that nonsense. Get out there and earn your money. This current pampering of over paid footballers stems from the Premier League and it works its way down.

Your career will be over before you know it. Get out there and give it your all. Give some like like Ashley Williams a bell. Or Garry Monk. Boys, centre backs, who also came through from lower teams and played at the top. And relished every minute.

Are you being serious ?

These are highly paid fit Championship footballers with barely 25% of the season gone. In not sure if you are joking, being ironic or a plain daft sheep?

5-0 ! Swans thrashed as questions will be asked for sure
at 23:27 24 Oct 2026

In a team sport too many of the individuals do not perform you are in trouble. That happened today.

There was nothing wrong with the team selection or tactics but we were poor in key moments both in attack and especially in defence today. That was hard to take as they have been incredibly good all season wifh only eight goals conceded.

Meanwhile you are completely clueless in every respect on the subject. You seem to enjoy it when we lose.

A bad day at the office but although a concerning scoreline it was not a 5-0 game. So there’s a need for perspective as always.

Rarely will a team only have 12 goal attempts and score 5. We defended badly at crucial moments and also conceded an unnecessary penalty. We had some good chances within our 8/9 goal attempts and should have scored two or three of them. At least. Widell being the main culprit. As bad as we were today defensively the scoreline did not reflect the 90 minutes where we also had more of the ball. In key moments though that was a bad showing.

Clearly we are not automatic promotion contenders and that our reasonable goal is a play off place and that would be seen as a superb achievement

It’s only one game today just three points lost. They will learn from it. Possibly they were believing the hype. When that happens you can get casual. And sloppy. In big moments and today was one of those. We will be back. Keep calm chaps. We have a lot of good players in the squad. They will be hurting but that wasn’t as bad as the scoreline might suggest. Nowhere near it.

Decent enough but we have better options. Didn’t do or show enough when he had his chances. It’s that simple.

Our first goal was sublime and from my seat yesterday ( South Stand ) I had the perfect view. Those intricate short passes on half way which then freed Widell who somehow managed to keep his pass in play to release Franco. And what a cross that was. 👏🏻

A very enjoyable game. We are playing some good stuff. The strongest squad since our Premier League days.

Good to see Toshack there. With Wyndham Evans and Curtis. Who else from 1981?

Norwich City games. Tosh will be there !
at 13:27 6 Oct 2026

I was at the Chesterfield game. In the North Bank which was my preference in those days. Tosh was one of the most prolific exponents of attacking a headed ball. He was an advocate of “ head it back in the direction it came from “. None of this fancy glancing header stuff for Tosh. I recall the goal clearly. What a header it was. Those were the very best times to be a Swans fan for me. Others will have a different opinion but to top the First Division at various times throughout that season is almost unbelievable isn’t it. Didn’t we have some injury problems later in the season? And a small squad. I’m not certain.

Some of you need to realise that a game of football lasts 90 minutes. I’ve just read some laughable comments.
It could still go the other way of course. But so far so good. Top of the Championship but not good enough for some …

They were merely combative aggressive and competitive. All qualities that you want to see especially when playing away from home against league leaders. It’s Championship football with big bucks at stake and the pressure is on. , it’s not netball or rounders.
Parkinson is a wily old fox. He’s done nothing wrong.

Oh well that puts him in good company then with the best managers in the game, Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger, Guardiola, Clough and any other manager you’d care to mention. He’s doing his best for his club. Disputing and disagreeing with referee decisions is part of the game. He was right in those instance. If that makes him an entitled prick ( whatever that means ) and a humourless jerk then so be it.

So he’s an entitled prick and a humourless jerk ?

Are you sure? That’s a bit harsh. He’s actually done well in his career by getting teams to over achieve. Getting a fourth division club to a major final for starters. Im sure you know best though.

Our defending...
at 20:28 7 Sep 2026

All eleven players have a defensive responsibility. When we don’t have the ball we make it hard for the opposition by closing them down quickly all over the pitch. Pressing high up needs to be organised annd disciplined and ours is. It’s not just about a back four. The whole team have been excellent defensively and Vigoroux of course has been outstanding too. Welsh and Lissah are good on the ball with a range of passing. We have Cabango and Steet and they will all play a big part. Hoping we can keep Tymon and Key firing as they are doing so well. Early days but I’ve put my promotion bet on…

“ Entitled prick “

Why? Doing his job, defending his players and his comments about the Cabango tackle were spot on. It was a bit of an unnecessary lunge from Ben and arguably he was out of control with studs up. No disputing that. And on halfway line he didn’t need to do that.

Parkinson has done a good job at Wrexham. He’s under a bit of pressure now as they are spending big money but it’s a bit childish to call him a prick isn’t it.

Not the best game. We edged it but almost lost it 1-0 too.

Swans odds of 8/1 for promotion

Realistic odds ?

Worth a punt or just based on early season form?

I’m tempted ….

A decent hard working player but League One is his level. Did ok at Swansea too. Not quite good enough unfortunately but he’s had a reasonable career.

Disappointing to lose Congreve. He could have been ready to make an impact this season.
