Juventus Talking To Osvaldo
Wednesday, 29th Jan 2014 22:51

According to media reports Juventus are interested in signing Dani Osvaldo which could be good news for Saints.

At the moment the reports are unclear as to whether the Italian team are looking to sign the player on loan or a more permanent move although it is also suggested that it may be a loan move with a clause to make it permanent in the summer.

The loan deal looks more likely in that there is little time to do a permanent move in the two days left in the transfer window, Saionts will be looking to try and recoup as much as their money as possible whilst any club buying will be looking to take him off our hands cheaply.

Also unclear is just what fee would be involved, initial reports say they are prepared to pay 15 million euros which would mean a fairly big loss for Saints when wages and signing on fees are taken into account, other sources say the loan deal would b worth an initial 500 -1 million euros with a transfer fee then bringing in 8 - 10 million euros.

The latter would mean a very hefty loss for Saints, in truth Osvaldo like Ramirez was always a vanity signing, the much fabled marque signing to show we meant business, what is true though is that both players were signed with no real thought on how they would fit in to our style of play, in fairness to Osvaldo he was never really given much of a chance to play in his preferred position and prove his worth, on the rare occasions he did he showed promise as was shown by the goal against Manchester City, by then though there were clearly already issues with the player clearly unhappy at the way he had been treated.

Whatever happens in this case it will mean a lot of money wasted by Saints

Up late Nick! It was always going to be expensive to offload him butI totally agree with Matt's comments.

Disagree Nick he has shown no willingness to settle or fit in. When he was played in his favoured position he was ineffective. Doesn't deserve another chance just hope we can recover most of what we paid for him.

Would be glad to see the back of him, never worth what Saints paid for him, just been a distraction ever since he got here.

The Tin Man - but with a worse attitude. Glad to see the back of him. Saints don't need marque signings just players fit for purpose.

Waste of money and has pretty much admitted he cannot handle the physicality of the EPL. These type of players expect the opposition to stand back and gasp in awe as they showboat their technical ability and yet ironically Osvaldo has no respect whatsoever for anyone, even the teamates who helped him and made him welcome when he arrived. He has demonstrated appalling quality of character . Good riddance.

A big shame in some ways. Ten more goals like the one against City would have been great. I loved the fact that in the autumn internationals both England and Italy had saints strikers playing. If he had been a 20 goal a season player we might have been knocking on the door of the top 4.
Bring back Mayuka!!!

Didn't like him from day one when he walked off after the match straight into the dressing room. No acknowledging the other team or the supporters.
Sooner he's gone the better.
